A New Community Person Appears!

Crossing fingers … and we’ll see. Thanks.
Anyway, I guess I’m not the only non-American player, so, if there’s an issue, I won’t be alone to call support about it.

I manage our support team as well here. So if you need us, we will work to help resolve any issues as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Stormshade

I hope you didn’t put any hard redirect based on location for that new diamond page, let’s pray it’s not hosted on BNEA site, with same location restriction

That’s all handled through a payment processor. So no redirects or any issues should arrive there.

All the cool kids hangout on the memes post. I learned that yesterday.

I hope the great interaction with the devs on this forum here won’t diminish as a result of ‘professional customer service/relations or community managing’ (which in my experience so far have rarely been better than non-professional customer service/relations and in fact very often worse, no offense).

Any comments on that?

(Basically, in other words: can we expect the devs to still read and reply freely here?)

They’re free to post as much as they like so long as they don’t break any community rules. Just like the rest of us!

That’s good that they can, thanks.

Now if I could hear from them that they also will, still, that would be stellar

Well come! To the duelyst family, were we balance all factions but dont touch vetruvian, I mean it dont touch vetruvian. Hope you enjoy your stay

Word of advice: STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THE MEME THREAD AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE (or even as Eldritch Horror-ly possible).

That being said, we’re glad to have you here.

Joking aside, welcome to Duelyst, both as part of the CPG team and as part of the community.

Questions:

  1. What is your role as a Lead Community Manager?
  2. What is your plan that you have in your head as you enter into your role here?
  3. What do you think will be the major points of your focus? The least important or minor?

May have more follow-up questions.

Awwwww…but I like making new friends…
But yeah, @stormshade, Welcome!

Ok, here we go, problem after account linking … … …

I’m sure they’ll get around to it after the game is back up.

Got it. Community Request: Nerf Vetruvian. :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. My role is… interesting… and ever changing!

So, today…

  • I oversee our Free to Play Team’s CS team.
  • I work with all of our Community Managers to help them best do their job. (This includes @ThanatosNoa)
  • I work on general strategy and planning. (When we announce things, supporting blogs, social media, events, etc.)
  • I work with the community team to make sure that our dev teams are getting the community feedback they need to best prioritize development.
  • I help the Community Team to come up with new and exciting events to run in our games.
  • In general I do everything that you would expect a Community Manager to do, and then more.

I should note that Community Management is kind of hard to explain. The role in itself is part CS, part PR, part Marketing, and part Production. We’re kind of like a translator, filter, and occasional prophet. We work to act as the voice of the company to our customers, but we also act as the player’s voice inside of the company. We work to ensure morale is high on both sides, internally (the office/studio), and externally (the customer). If that sounds impossible, well, at times it can feel like it.

A good CM is intimately involved with the development team and the player base. We know what the company wants to do next, and can help advise on what the reaction is going to be.

To sum it up in the way that I tell my wife’s quilting friends, I get to talk to people about video games all day. There’s a ton more to it than just that, but that’s what I do if you boil it all down to the essence of the job.

  1. Change as little as possible. This is a scary time for this community. Why? Because things are changing, and change is scary! As time moves on and we get to know you all better, we can start slowly introducing more changes. For now, my only plan is to reassure you all that we’re not planning on totally changing the Duelyst you know and love, prove that point to you through action, and then work with you to grow Duelyst into an even more amazing experience than it is today.

  2. Points of focus:

  • Get to know the community.
  • Gain the trust of the community.
  • Ensure the community has access to stellar customer support when they need it.
  • Work to build and improve the Duelyst Community when and where I can.
  • Nerf Vetruvian :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been in the video games industry acting as a Community Manager since 2009. You are all the lifeblood of this game, which I really do enjoy playing. Your community team is here to listen to your feedback, pass that feedback along, and occasionally engage in some lighthearted teasing of random Vetruvian players. Our goal is in many ways the same goal as yours, to enjoy the time we have with each other playing and talking about Duelyst as much as possible.

I hope that helps,

Stormshade

Is it sad that I found this to be one of the most interesting things about this post? And that I totally want to know more about that and see some example work?

Found the Meme thread, eh? LOL

Google images actually, but yes.

We’ve been running little in-office tournaments at BNEA for fun and to help encourage people to learn the game more. With each tournament, I send out a different meme. I’ve never used that one, but it’s one of my personal favorites.

Cheers,

Stormshade

Good to hear.

Tournies. Budget tournies, core tournies, expansion tournies, basic card tournies, meme tournies, serious tournies. All the tournies.

All the tournies.

All good aims (I’d say vet would need one, but other factions will still be posing bigger problems). Questions of interest, and to help in your endeavors:

  1. How much of the community do you know as of now? Forums? Discord? In-game (harder to assess)?
  2. Do you have an inkling where the community stands as of right now with the news of BNEA coming in?
  3. Do you know the history that the community has developed over time with Duelyst/CPG? The high points, and more often vocalized low points? The sentiments of player’s in various factions? (there’s often a running theme among each faction’s players)
  4. Have you or BNEA check out the suggested quality of life changes some players here would like to see? (@mmf for link, @isbee too for the FAQ, assuming that’s coming along )
  5. Do you know of the meme cards? Do you know about Makantor’s psuedo-name? Do you know where Serpenti stands?
  6. How important do you think you’ll find it to be an at least somewhat regular participant to discord and/or the forums?

These are all questions that I sincerely ask to you, not specifically for my need to know, but to help you navigate through the community side of things as an aim to assist in developing a well founded relationship. (with that, anything where you don’t feel that you have enough knowledge answer, spend some time asking around learning).

Again, questions of interest, and to help in your endeavors.

Enjoy your journey.

Well, it is…slowly…but if they have a dedicated team to pump one out…I’m not going to be offended.

I was just trying to do a service to the community.

It’s locked as of the moment, but there are still some great suggestions in there if any devs want to take a look at it.

@nwardezir has a more complete collection of possible fixes/improvements here if you want to check it out (I highly suggest it!)

Ok sounds good. Lately the topic about people being offensive popped up again.

They request a friendship after a match, then spout aggressive offensive lines and then immediately remove themselves as friend again.

Maybe you could do something with that, seeing as how you want to gain our trust.

Earlier ideas were that you could then block them from ever requesting friendship again and to be able to report them with an easy button.
