Farewell Duelyst

I never understood the sadness of losing a game before now. I have seen it happen with other communities but I was blind enough to think we were safe in limbo land. These are sad sad times. There was never much hope, just a fools hope.

It is never wrong to hope especially as long as it doesn’t cost you anything.

Hope gives you a good feeling but you go around your life doing what needs to be done and if the hope gets fulfilled, then great and if not, you didn’t lose anything

Thanks you were the best community menager ever (before Bandai).

Now Following your last advice, let it go.

See you if duelyst 2.0 comes,

Good morning, and in case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!

Could the forums be accessed by something like WayBackMachine or do I have to manually archive the threads I like?

Elman did nothing wrong

I’ve had one year with Duelyst, which doesn’t feel like anywhere close to enough. :’( I feel like I’ve only just started to get to know some members of the community, and it’s the friendliest game community I have ever known.

I’ve only ever had one shot at becoming a Duelyst grandmaster. At the time of the singleplayer event I basically wasn’t ready. (Didn’t have enough of a collection, or enough knowledge/experience.) Still, I didn’t do too poorly. I almost made it to the playoffs. In the last-chance tourney there was only one person I didn’t beat. When I was eliminated, I comforted myself with the hope that I would try again the next year. Little did I know, there would not be another year and I would never get another chance.

I did manage to play in two team events though. I am grateful for the limited time I have had with this game. I only wish I could’ve had more time.

I know it’s not perfect, but while we still have the option…we can save our own posts.

Oh my…its actually happening. Even though i havent played a game of dooli for atleast a few months, i cant help but to feel extreme sadness, when watching @ghostlytuna stream and suddently hearing him read the duelyst cancelation tweet… I suppose its time to redownload and give it a big ride

They should go by the player base now, last time I played I had 35 players online, when the most I had before was 20.

Basically a one big hug before the sweet release takes Dooly away.

@ThanatosNoa can you please talk to people in charge whether there are any options for the community to save the game?
As far as I can see it, there are 3 major options:

  1. Whoever runs the servers continues to run them and community pays for that like a subscription service.
  2. Serverside portion is provided (licensed?) to the community & community manages hosting and technical side.
  3. Entire game assets are provided/opensourced.

They could be the good guys and do it for free or name a price, I’m leaving this part open.

Even if it’s a definite “no” on any possible options even beyond the aforementioned that’s still a response.

I appreciate the honesty when you say that you don’t want to instil false hopes, and when you admit that the focus in on Godfall and the growth of CPG.

My hope is that all of you guys that will end up with what will be left of Duelyst, realise that this game is too good to be put down, and as a plus there’s a very faithful and committed community ready to step up and do their part for whatever it’s needed to keep Duelyst alive.
Also, that some kind of discussion channel could be kept open somewhere.

Very sad indeed. Although, not a huge shock considering the lack of attention and development in the past few years. I, unfortunately, discovered it after Duelyst’s last set came out, although there were rumors of an expansion which inspired me to buy diamonds, which are now useless. RIP. But it’s been fun and unique enough from other ccgs. Good luck to everyone in their future endeavors.

I heard the news today and came back to this forum after more than a year.

So many old faces are still here and still posting. I’m so sorry this happened and that this great game is relegated to the gallows.

My time capsule thread isn’t going to work if the forums get purged. I’ll archive everything I can and put it in a .zip file on google drive so that we can keep the raw text/html at least.

I’ll make a post about it in the forums and on the Discord.

Too bad, a great IP with great Lore and Gameplay and Mechanics will come to an end, or at least a hiatus. I wonder what will the impact on the next game “Godfall” will be. Will the Duelyst fans, and now betrayed fans, support Godfall or will just turn their backs to a game that who knows when it will go bye-bye because of lack of support and new expansions and development.

What is most saddening is that video games (IPs) come to an end because gamers, but also developers, don’t believe in it, support it as much as an IP deserves. Just like Duelyst that was one of the best tactical CCGs with a lore that was unexplored, except a map and 40 entries of CODEX and failed promises of Lore expansion in Anime etc.

What i am hoping for though, is what the community did for an other video game (Duels of Champions) that after a few years the community is alive with a working rebuilt game.

I stumbled on the news from my random checking ins. Like some others have said, I am saddened by this news! :frowning: There’s plenty that could be said, but I feel it best to leave things in a positive light.

If I may make two requests @ThanatosNoa,

  • Thank the CGP team for the game they’ve produced and the impact it’s had on those here (yourself included )
  • If possible, it would be nice for the duelyst discord server to create a forum channel.

Thank you again, and the many friends and great conversations I’ve had with the folk here!

Granted the discord server is not affiliated with CPG or bandai and is ran by T2 anyway so id wager it would probably stay around for a good while anyway

Big sad to see it all go :frowning:

This is my reason for the request, as I am unable to create a channel for those who’ve had long standing here and may still wish to continue their relations with the friends made here.
