Just spoke with the engi, it seems replays are tied to the servers so they will not be accessible.

i’ve been busy with college lately and i only hear the news now. i had to come here as soon as i found out.
we always joked about the game being dead but i still had hope in my heart that it’d come back someday.
im really really sad about this. i’ll miss this game so much, the community too.
What’s going to happen to the forums here?

sup dude. stormshade said theyll use it for another bnea game, most likely. the forum accounts are tied to bnea accounts and we cant do anything abt it

You mean Thanatos? Your answer seems very unclear to me, so I quote Thanatos.
Since the partnership with BNEA will cease, and we have 0 control over the forums (they’re not our accounts, they’re BNEA) there’s no “good” reason for CPG to have any reasonable upkeep over a forum for a game that doesn’t exist - with accounts it can’t use - for a publisher they’re not working with.

Sorry for another ping @ThanatosNoa. At first I didn’t pay attention to that part about no longer working with Bandai but now it got me thinking. How exactly did that partnership end? I think this is important because if I had to assume it went this way:
- CPG signs a contract with Bandai and passes the hosting and server management to them.
- Contract expires and Bandai doesn’t prolong it
- Full control over the game comes back to CPG, along with server costs.
- CPG doesn’t want to pay for servers and shuts the game down.
Bandai might not even be the villain in this story, after all.

Namco had only a contract as publisher for Duelyst (not Godfall). The game shuts down, the contract ends, therefore they are not working together anymore.

If the contract already ended why is still Bandai handling the communication (just read the “farewell” message to recognize that)? CPG is not making any official statements, only Thanatos lurking around.

Just saying… I really hope that before the servers shut down, CPG will make a statement. It is the least they can do.
But not the standard stuff Bandai wrote…something we can relate to, something to acknowledge the last 5 years.

What makes you think it’s communication from Bandai and not CPG?
Anyway, the contract between them has ended in any case, which is clear from the part about “not working with.” What I’m saying is that there is no indication in that message that closure was initiated by Bandai and not CPG themselves.

Typically all forms of communication to the public is done through the publisher (hence why I was hired to work with BNEA under contract for a year, and was able to speak to you guys then and not so much afterwards).
I don’t know who started the conversation, I was just told that the game was shutting down, and asked to step in to deliver this message on the forums (Stormshade could have delivered it as well, but he did not get a chance to know everyone as well as I did, it felt more appropriate if I did).
I can tell you that no one I’ve spoken to on behalf of the CPG “Dooly” team is happy about the news. We were told about a week in advance (so very uninformed) and tried finding ways to keep the game afloat, but found no solutions by the time this message went live.
Juvey and I are still talking to each other on this matter, but that’s all we can really do/say on behalf of this, is that we’re talking

The way it’s formulated: “You can use your account to play our other games” Why would CPG say that about Bandai accounts?
And just that I trust in Thanatos to give us a better farewell message than this copy paste message we got there.

You can use Bandai account to play other Bandai games. You are informed of this just so you don’t ask what happens with the associated account.
