Word-to-Card Contest (July 2019)

Welcome to the tenth monthly Word-to-Card Contest! We have three all-new words for you to choose from this month:

  • FERVOR (chosen by bostwick)
  • INSIDIOUS
  • MISLEADING

Rules
  • Design a card that relates to the word of the month that you choose in any way
  • You may only submit one card
  • Submit your card in one of the two acceptable formats
  • If using the visual format and you choose art from a different faction than what you want your card to be, make sure to specify your card’s faction
  • Don’t make an obviously overpowered or underpowered card
  • Don’t copy cards other people have posted or cards from other card games
  • Don’t make up your own keywords (there is no need for a single card), but inventing special tiles and tokens is fine

Submission Format

Make a card on this website and upload it here (recommended), or (if you are planning on changing your card often before the deadline) use this format:

Name (Cost)
Faction Type [Attack/Health] (Rarity)
Abilities

Example:

Praise the Sun! (5)
Lyonar Spell (Legendary)
If this is the third time you praised the sun this game, restore your General to full health.

OR (this way looks way better)

I took the dictionary definition of the word since I never use it haha. The idea is that careless enemies forget about its hidden, insidious threat due to its inability to attack, therefore leaving it to proc on the third turn. Synergizes extremely well with Control Ciphyron, which is my personal favourite in Vetruvian.

*End-of-turn effect works by doing a normal spellcast for each Wish for 0 mana, but the original costs of the Wishes are counted for effects. This effect uses any Wishes generated and left in your hand; any used Wish will not be used again.

tbh i just want a vet recolor of peacekeeper

Do they play from your hand?

Yes, they play from your hand and are considered normal spellcasts, no change of manacost (AKA “special summoning” them)

They play any Wish generated from this card, so if you used the Wishes on something else it will only use the remaining Wishes in hand.

INSIDIOUS

Token:

Sphynx support: Once the opponent’s deck is full of trash cards (such as this Magic Elixir) we play Sphynx for extra meme.

Works well with Zir’An too! Then again, at the same time you’re giving fodder for draw-heavy Zir’An decks haha.

WHO WAKES ME FROM MY SLUMBER… wait that was three days ago… i tried to think of a card, got distracted, then forgot to reply…

I wanna get Lesser Evil to support the artist and play the game and carry around Collagist’s Scissors in my wallet but shipping prices and god damn currency conversion ramp prices exponentially so thats gonna have to wait a while

Yeah, even for me shipping prices were pretty high ($8). :disappointed:

Using the idea of misleading.
Name: Disguised Pitfall (4)
Faction Type: Songhai Spell (Epic)
Abilities: Intensify: Choose 1 unoccupied tile(s), deal four damage to any enemy that occupies that tile.

Notes: Ideally, the enemy general would not be allowed to see the location of the placement. The intensify trigger changes how many traps are placed, not the damage done. Also, after you have hit the intensify trigger, the placement is similar to placing walls (where they must connect). The effect is also repeatable, so anytime an enemy occupies the space (and it has to move from a different space or be summoned on the space) the effect is triggered.

Edit: Now let the true mind games begin…

Critiques are welcome!

EDIT: The new card based on feedback given!
Anyone know why the cards come out like this?

The Intensify keyword works in Duelyst as follows:
Any worded number, such as one, is not Intensified.
Any numerical value, such as 1, is Intensified.
The card’s wording, ideally, will be changed to:
Intensify: Choose 1 unoccupied tile(s). Deal four damage to any enemy that occupies the tile.

Based on the wording, every time an enemy occupies that tile, it will proc the damage off, is this correct? If so, I vote for 4 mana. I’d root for this card to win the contest, I like the idea a lot!
