Poxnora. It was the original game of the genre, out in like 2006. Its a bit of a disaster.
Where to migrate afterwards?
There are also, fucking, Kards, a WWII vehicle themed cardgame with pseudo board, and Grace of Zordan, another one with a real board
Zordan sadly seems to be quite dead already. Kards at a glance seems to lack a tactical board.
Kards is not a bad game but the free to play experience feels pretty bad. Assuming the crafting system hasnât changed since I played in the beta, then itâs awful. It uses a crafting system where you trade in spare cards for cards you donât have. On the surface doesnât sound too bad, but when the highest rarity is something like 250 cards for 1. Itâs quite worrying.
The board itself has a back line where the HQ is, for each player. The HQ is basically the playerâs health. But the front line is shared. So for most units to be able to attack the opponents back line or HQ you have to take control of the front line and you can only do that if itâs unoccupied. Also costs mana to move units from the back line to the front line. Thereâs also different unit types like Infantry, Tanks, Planes, Bombers, Artillery. Some have they own kind of rules, like Artillery can attack from the back line and but canât counter attack (if I remember correctly). Some units also have stuff similar to Provoke, Rush etc. There are also âspellsâ but just WW2 themed, for example the Japanese faction has a some AoE damage spell but its just themed as a ship firing supporting fire.
Strange. I consider Krosmaga pretty decent and even played it from time to time while taking breaks from Duelyst. Duelyst is vastly superior, of course, but still.
I do also like CardHunter - a mix of tabletop tactical RPG and online CCG. Has a really nice single player campaign, even without paid modules, and a multiplayer. Also has a decent level of tactical depth. I would say, the board there matters even more than in Duelyst, but deckbuilding (or character building, or equipment building, I dunno how to say it, one should play to understand) is a bit scarse, not many builds to meme about. but my team of melee wizards is fun Has pretty special game mechanics though, so I canât predict whether anyone of you would like it or not.
Both games are pretty dead now, btw, more dead than Duelyst ever was. But they are still fun to play.
Iâm getting back to cardhunter now, btw.
Krosmaga is doing quite well. About to get a new patch, and in November got a big overhaul that greatly improved it, gutting the grindy Xp systems. Its on mobile, has tournaments, and it has an active communityâŚbut only in french. It remains my go to mobile game. I like it a lot, but it is no replacement for Duelyst.
Cardhunter is a wonderful design, unfortunately it is pretty dead, although there are enough players for matchmaking, albeit slow at certain times of day. The lack of a crafting system leaves you at the mercy of an endless RNG grind for cards which ultimately made me quit since I could not play what I wanted. The gameplay and aesthetic was so god I put a few hundred hours in anyways.
Idk if it was said but Mythgard is neat, thereâs a lot to be desired but itâs fairly new.
Faeria is going to be free next week on the epic games store
Krosmaga and Cardhunter look interesting.
Thank you.
Coming to a problem that most other cardgames are just boring as shit. Like LoR has a 7 mana kill spell that is considered decent or something? I know reserve mana and stuff but, man, the cards dont fucking do anything
If anyone is playing magic the gathering arena you can send me an invite on Epic games store or if you post your ID here we can duel
That is subjective
To me the overall weaker cards that thereby allow alot more counterplay are much better than âanswer or dieâ
Duelyst"s insane powerlevel also makes duels veeeeeery snowbally-gl coming back from a missed t1 play.
Runterra does 2 things much better than duelyst in my opinion
-(slower pace and) spellmana greatly combats the degree to which rng can screw you over and enables decision-making:you might want to not follow the curve so that next turn you have the mana for certain spells
-alternating turns paired with spells make the game alot more fun and interactive
Imagine that: a CCG where you do not have to dedicate nearly a quarter of your deck to t1 plays
Missed turn 1 play.
Challenge accepted.
Me imagining stuff from what is said .
T1 plays not impactful:
Means early game waste of time.
Mid game the real start of game.
Not as snowbally:
Wasting time to win a game in a clearly winning position.
Spell mana saving:
Potential mantrahai - like decks
Conclusions totally not from a pessimist .
Oof, you make it sound so sad. Still, i do want to say goodbye to being stuck with 9 golem 2-drops in all of my fucken decks.
Though i guess i can accomplish that with jumping to literally any other game
Thatâs why I run six 2 drips
Also faeria will be free soon on epic games store, another suggestion where to migrate after
on january 20
For me its gonna be a kind of migrate back. I did use to play it but that was before i really understood the game
