Duelyst Forums

Where to migrate afterwards?

Since we are forced to locate elsewhere.
Where to? Are there any good games that are player friendly?

Since Legends of Runeterra just started Open Beta, it is probably the most obvious choice.

It is not that similar to duelyst, but then again what game is :slightly_frowning_face:

That’s might seem logical but then I’ll go back into league which I rather not do.

Is it any good? Money grabber ad usual?

For CCGs LOR is pretty great. Its one of the better ones I have seen.

For tactical board games? Most of the other options have also went under. Faeria is your best bet and it is pretty solid.

However fear not we are making great strides:

LoR is pretty good for free to play players. You unlock cards mostly based on experience. You still have the ability to craft cards using shards (spirit) or wildcards. Wildcards are cards you can earn and exchange/craft for a card of that rarity. You can buy wildcards in the shop if you want to, but really there is no reason to do that. You earn a weekly vault (3 chests) depending how much experience you earn during the week, and the experience you earn also goes towards whatever region (faction) you represent so you can earn cards from that region. The only reason to spend money would be for a different board or a different guardian/pet thing that’s in the corner.

I’ve been getting into Mythgard. It has 6 factions and you can mix-and-match cards from different factions in one deck. There’s also a board, albeit a somewhat minimalist one (2x7 boxes) that can be clearly displayed on mobile devices.

The devs seem very hardworking and communicative and have clear plans for the game at least for this year. On the whole, the community seems pretty friendly as well.

It’s decently FTP-friendly. I built up over 50% of the entire collection just by completing the FTP quests. After that, you can continue building your collection by logging in and playing a little bit each day. Whales have the option to spend money on custom game boards and prestige cards (like the prismatic cards in Duelyst).

From my little experience:

Runeterra: All minions have rush. No replace. Single or bi-faction decks. Defending player picks blockers. Auto accruing universal mana system. Instant spells, turn phases.

Myth: 2x6 board. No replace. Multifaction decks. Attacking player picks creature or player based on board. Select and burn a card in your hand to gain mana of its color. 2v2 player mode. Copy-linked rarity system (mythic cards can only be run 1-of, epics 2-of, etc). Full turns, no instants.

I like Myth better, the art is not exceptional but more to my taste, yet didnt really get into it yet. instead i illuminated myself to 100% Orange Juice
I would like to be sold on Runeterra, because my friends are playing it. I may hear its “pretty good for free to play”, but when you dont already like the game, and only really want to pilot one deck, it all feels like a chore.

How’s Caller’s Bane?

Edit: Okay, tested, I’ll put it in the Disappointing bin next to Krosmaga and Plants VS Zombies.

What are your thoughts on shadowverse?

I wanted to try and compile a list of all card and card-board games to make a chart before the Duelyst diaspora
Hell, Duelyst is my favorite game, and with my experience with Myth and Lor Im afraid I need to try out many more, or maybe I am now resigned to nibbling at but not really dedicating myself to a bunch of cardgames simultaneously

Too many boobies.

Yes I know, i am shock I wrote it as well, we both know it is true though.

Lor seems nice, I downloaded it and it seems like a chill game, does it similar to hs?

An interesting idea with horrible execution. Devs fucked up with the super-inflatig powercreep and sets rotating every 3 months or so. Also, balance is dumb garbo

(What I learned from watching what I think was Sylvermyst’s first stream of LoR:)

Re: “All minions have rush” - Not exactly. In each round (both players having a turn), one player has the “attack token” and can choose to attack the other player, while the other player can only defend (effects exist that can give you an attack token if you don’t have one, letting you attack during the other player’s round or twice in your round). If you have the attack token, you can attack with things you played that turn.

The instant/non-instant spell thing is kinda like Magic, with responses possible (it’s a little more complicated, though, as some stuff can and some can’t be played during combat - the combat is pretty similar to Magic’s, although I don’t think you can multi-block).

Other features:
Unused mana is stored as “spell mana,” which spells use before your normal mana (max 3 SM).

“Champion” cards - These are minions which have a Trial. They’re playable whenever, but once their Trial is completed, they “level up,” gaining stats and gaining or changing abilities. (They don’t have to be on the board to level up or progress the Trial, unless the Trial involves their being on board.) While you have a particular Champion in play, any copy of it in your hand is instead a spell with an effect that includes “Shuffle a copy of [the Champion] into your deck.”
(Non-Champion cards are “Followers”; effects might refer to one or the other.)

Some cards can cheat this rule, mainly those that summon additional copies, i.e. Dawn and Dusk can summon 2 addtional champion copies, another card is a 4 mana 2/3 ionian card, that can summon up to 2 1drops from your deck when played, which might as well be 2 1cost champions

I didn’t mean to imply a strict limit (I did see a spell that creates 2 Ephemeral copies of anything, for example). I’ve edited my post (and added things, like the term “Follower”).

Why is no one mentioning Shardbound? it is easily the closest thing to Dooly. at least they’re keeping the servers up. if all Dooly refugees ported over to Shardbound, it may give the game a little more life.

Or did those servers shut down too??

Servers are running, and it is getting slow community volunteer patches. Still no support from original dev team but servers are doing fine. Matchmaking is almost non existent if you do not arrange it on discord before hand.

Folks don’t mention it because it is also nearly dead, although the somewhat recent community patch’s help.

Well guess where I’m going?
Good news Spiritwalk games, I guess this means I’m Shardbound bound…

Faeria is the only remaining one of the genere I know of that still has active matchmaking, patches, content, and cash tournaments.

Sharbound / Pox / Scrolls all have active, but largely empty servers.

A happy medium is Krosmaga as it is very active, and mobile, although it is closer to scrolls than it is Duelyst.
