What about the Bandai Namco partnership?

I think now enough time has passed to perform a preliminary assessment of what players perceive about the Bandai Namco partnership. Of course, we don’t know the full backstage of this, but I think we all had different expectations and they might have been confirmed or not.

Personally, I was expecting to see:

  1. A lot more advertising of the game and a serious attempt to increase the player base
  2. As part of this, the release of the mobile version
  3. A major investment on the competitive scene

So far, it seems none of these points has been realized. Overall, it seems the partnership only introduced further rules and bureaucracy into the game and I was honestly expecting much more. Am I missing something good?

Again, we don’t have the full picture, but I think we all have ideas on this. Please don’t make this a flame thread  Let’s just share opinions

At least the final one is reportedly in the works.

Yeah, fully agree, communicate with the people that don’t know Duelyst yet, instead of spamming players with this kind of invasive/modal/ugly popup when launching the game …

… it’s both counter productive and a bad UX pattern … CPG you’re hurting yourselves

I think we underestimate how long these bureaucratic ways are nowadays.

What I’m kinda expecting is for the release on other platforms being the catalyst for the rest. If/when Duelyst gets released on other places, then I expect more advertisement for the game as a whole, which will hopefully snowball into the competitive scene being reborn.

Part of the partnership was to allow CPG to focus more on development of the game, if I remember the reasoning correctly. So I suspect once the development for other platforms are complete, everything else will follow.

The improvement in game developing since they join bn is clear: better expansions and better balance patch and also new game mode. My biggest hope is that Mobile version Will be ready this year, that Will definately be a huge help for this game, if well done.

Duelyst became a pop-up ad on kissanime, does that count?

Duelyst is on new platforms since the merger. It works on Firefox now and is on Kongregate too.

Did…did it not work on Firefox before?

No and officially it still doesn’t.

These are small things, we all know the popular platforms are not these ones. I agree that big changes are not done in one day, but still I find the silence from BN a bit suspicious.

For instance, didn’t we use to have a new community manager? He spent some time here for a couple of weeks and then… (apparently) gone! I don’t think this is how big companies usually work…

I don’t know, maybe I was expecting too much. But visible outputs, even small ones, would be great for this community, I believe

Well I know but still saying that they developed new platforms

The new community manager is more high level as far as I understood it. Thanatos is still the one mainly responsible for us. Not sure what the other new one responsible for the Germans is doing though. No German stuff happen here.

I think the great ads push will come with mobile.

He still exsists just not very active, didn’t you remember him posting on the “make a card of community members thread”? If you mention them, they will come.

Okay, so let’s see if @stormshade has something to add on this thread. I don’t want to sound overly critical, it is really genuine curiosity…

hey the kissanime ads for duelyst brought me back. So i mean it’s a start. Not a good one though cause most popups are viruses so nobody is gunna wanna click on it.

So… did you click it?

How did the russian lock develope?Did they bring them back and did they give refunds for those that stay locked out and spent money?

Gaming is not a right and crowdfunding is not a investment, it’s a donation. Fact is CPG isn’t legally obligated to reimburse anyone for any reason whatsoever.
