The lack of Iridium scale irritates me. You dont run makantor, but why not become Makantor yourself

I feel like vaath is a huge problem for duelyst
-realy strong
-REALY easy to play
-hardcounters A TON of stuff
-has basicly no hard counter.Sure dispell helps but theres no matchup(aside fault kha) that makes vaath think: ,damm, how am i going to win this?,

As toxic fault kha is…a small potion of me is happy about it because it bullys vaath out of the meta

Vaath is lesser, imo, as simply the pileup of old Magmar design (ME STRONK ME WIN) with new (ME FAT ME WIN) is what makes it annoying. Other classes also have some even nastier self-growth power (i adore outrunning smash Vaath as smash Zir). I’m going to win him by going so big he can’t just punch my face without suiciding.

While i’ll agree that Magmar needs some minor reworks, it ain’t that hard as people make to deal with The Green Child.

I did consider running it, but there’s so much removal anyway I didn’t feel it was a must. Would definitely work well in place of some other removal.

I feel like Vaath is a necessary counter for many decks, however his matchups being so polarized (yes, quite often being in his favor) is the real issue. Not having true hard counters is what is most annyoing about Wanderer/some other trials for many people, myself included. Balance is imo what makes things perfect (like counters being favored smh like 60-40 to the decks they counter, instead of like 80-20 given equal skill).

Could this bump be the Q4 content?

A sudden frosty bump? That sounds like the title of a lore contest submission

(Which you can find here:

Duelyst Lore Contest November 2018 - January 2019)

Don’t tell me you’re holding back on my account, go ahead, submit it! The worst that’ll happen is a few free orbs…

Heh, I’m afraid that with all the end-of-year hassles I can’t contribute this time sry :stuck_out_tongue:

Born to Burn

So, here’s a standard burn Faie shell (Crypto, Mentor, Alcuin & Concealing Shroud) with extra bbs tools (Sanguinar, Cloudcaller, Hydrogarm), some spiciness from Fissure and a couple Vanar staples along with Cryogenesis for fetching Hydrogarms. Games usually play out baiting your opponent into optimal positioning, using Fissure and Hearth Sister for maximal value. Surprisingly, Gravity Welling your opponent t1 often baits them into the center tile t3-t4 (“hmm why would he freeze me here if he was running Fissure…”). Hydro, Cloudcaller and Cryo offer some extra removal and stall while you move to the final finisher burns and can be surprisingly effective against stuff like Wanderer, Songhai and Maehv.

The salt of the list are of course the bbs combos, which besides the usual Crypto-Mentoring include:

  • Sanguinar + bbs + Crypto + bss on 6 mana for 4 dmg burn and two minions
  • p1t1 Crypto into p1t2 Sanguinar + bbs for sum value
  • Cloudcaller + bbs with a Mentor on board for extra Waterballs
  • Crypto + Hydrogarm + bbs or Crypto into next turn Hydrogarm for stunning stuffz while bbs is on cooldown

Glhf, and may the Fissures be ever under your opponent! My wr with the deck was 16-1-4 (80 %) in Gold/Silver :vankiss:

I spectated a little bit on this one and I must say that the win rate definitely comes from the pilot himself!

Kudos to you and thanks for sharing this gem!

My dreams for an 8 mana 16 dmg otk with Ion, Cryonic Potential and Sol were just shattered :magsad: apparently Battle Pets don’t count as “exhausted” right after they’re summoned?

That’s right. No Cryonic Potential for them.

You can still squeeze some damage out of ghoulie this way

True, although it’s probably not worth the 3-card combo investment

3 card combos are usually a no-no in vanar

I figured as much, but if it really would’ve been 16 dmg out of hand (with Ion and Cryo Potential) it might’ve actually worked. I even had stuff like Frigid Corona and Replicant for extra consistency. Oh well, back to testing other stuff :man_shrugging:

“In Soviet Vanar, your pets take care of You”

Remember my RaCaChaCa (Dark Memes XV: RaCaChaCa)? After doing some theorycrafting, I figured that there could be more than one working deck using the awsum Calculator-Rawr-pets shell. So, here we are back at pet madness again :sirpenti:

Early game, the plan is to get as big a Calculator (or two) asap. Numbers like 11/13, 15/17 or even 18/19 are not so uncommon as one might think, and can cause some furious reactions from opponents (I had one of my most precious games in a while when my two 20+ stats Calculators made my Wanderer Rag opponent spam me "GLHF"s). When your Calculator is up, it’s time to follow up with Rawrs and other pets to take control of the board. Kara’s bbs and Shiro help to really make those Calculators and pets grow sw0l.

Late game, Spirit of the Wild and Hearth Sister provide some finishing touch given that your opponent cowardly backs away from his “fun & interactive math problem”. L’Kian can give some fun stuff to avoid losing hand size too much, and most importantly doesn’t provide your opponent with cards to answer all the ridiculous things you throw at them. Surprising mvp of the deck is however Icy, whose stun on the enemy general can sometimes really help close out the game (extra spicy on a Trial Sajj before the critical Neurolink turn, it seems).

Consider this build my holiday gift for y’all. Keep on being amazing next year too, and let’s keep Dooly memes rocking even in these dark times :santa:

Edit: whoops, almost forgot my typical WR stats. Here ya go, 12-8 (60 %) in Gold and Diamond

Flye McBorbfaice

Fly Vanar is an archetype that I’ve been really enjoying recently. It boasts a respectable amount of fliers, utilizing Skywing’s ramp abilities combined with Vanar’s own Shivers and Wisps-ramp package to produce an impressive amount of flying minion spam. Once you establish (any) board, it’s time to go to town with Wailing Overdrive, Spirit of the Wild and Aspect of the Mountains. Overdrive is a great card in that it can be used to smash things such as an innocent looking Shivers into an unsuspecting opponent’s faice™, or to infiltrate Faie herself and play your fliers near the enemy base for a big payoff next turn, should your opponent choose to run to your starting side of the board.

Drake Dowager, while generally a weak card gives some nice extra flavor to the deck, while Ghost Seraphim synergizes nicely with almost all spells of the deck and provides a decent plan b finisher if the Overdrive/Spirit combos don’t pay off early in the game.

All in all it’s a classic Vanar combo deck: while not particularly mind-blowing, McBorbfaice feels fun to play and provides fine results for a meme. Wr was 15-5 (75 %) in Gold/Silver this season and Diamond last season.
