Word-to-Card Contest (January 2020)

:fireworks: HAPPY NEW YEAR! :fireworks:

Welcome, one and all, to 2020, the year when the development of invisible jets, flying cars, and all manner of other technological marvels is due to be completed!

Also notice the date: 1/1/2020. This is a very rare date, as two 1s won’t come after each other like that for another whole year!

Did someone mention the number four? No? Well, whatever. You know what four squared is? The sixteenth Word-to-Card Contest! Choose a word and get designing:

  • Recursion (chosen by excogitator)
  • Penance
  • Fraudulent

:crossed_swords: BONUS CHALLENGE :crossed_swords:

TRIAL: Make your card involve some form of antisynergy.

DESTINY: If your card is tied with other designs when the voting stage ends, your card gets an extra entry into the discobot tiebreaker.

Rules
  • Design a card that relates to the word of the month that you choose in any way
  • You may only submit one card
  • Submit your card in one of the two acceptable formats
  • If using the visual format and you choose art from a different faction than what you want your card to be, make sure to specify your card’s faction
  • Don’t copy cards other people have posted or cards from other card games
  • When voting for a card, do not choose your own design

Submission Format

Make a card on this website and upload it here (recommended), or (if you are planning on changing your card often before the deadline) use this format:

Name (Cost)
Faction Type [Attack/Health] (Rarity)
Abilities

Example:

Praise the Sun! (5)
Lyonar Spell (Legendary)
If this is the third time you praised the sun this game, restore your General to full health.

OR (this way looks way better)

2nd place: 4 Core Orbs

3rd place: 3 Core Orbs

PENANCE (neutral)

Made this as a sort of an anti-control tool. Now the enemy can’t recklessly spam board clears or they die after they kill this on accident (with good positioning it deters Frenzy and “damage nearby enemies” effects aswell). But same goes for you, if you try to clear the board with Tempest, Rebuke, etc. Synergizes poorly with cards like Quillbeast and the like, so you couldn’t really play those, leaving you with a bit less options. You get some more rope, but if you get too careless and attack that Battle Panddo, the same fate awaits you.

Made cards for the other two words too, so might aswell share them (for the contest I pick the card above, tho).

This one is Abyssian.

Feel free to comment on them and tell me which one you like best (so I can feel bad if it’s not the one I picked ;__; )

… and to all a marvelous 2020 ^^

Fraudulent(Abyssian)

Mecha’thun from Hearthstone with more difficult conditions

‘Anything of your own’ above means the following.

  1. Cards on the your hand and your deck(this includes Riddle generated from opponent’s Sphynx, a card stolen from your opponent, etc.)
  2. Your stuff on the battlefield(minions, artifacts, tiles you made, etc.)
  3. Your current general card

Why is there a scroll bar???

Uh oh, looks like you can’t see who voted for what on this poll. Experiments always fail.

Just don’t vote for your own card, okay? Here, how about this genius idea: an honor system to turn yourself in if you broke the rules. I don’t see any flaws in this plan.

  • I voted for my entry
  • I didn’t vote for my entry (but I’m lying)

Ugh, and don’t look at that pie chart for too long… it keeps freaking out and it’s annoying me.

Oops, looks like I missed the time to submit this Neutral Fraudulent entry.

Tiebreaker time!

1 = Eldritch Fantasm
2 = Desperate Measures

(I don’t consider either of these entries to utilize antisynergy, but if the definition were changed a little they would both have it, so it makes no difference either way)
