Vanar Deck Improvements

So that is the deck (the name is very original, I know), and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what cards were only dragging it down and needed to be replaced and what to replace them with. All suggestions are welcome, but I am not spending any money as I am on a budget. Also, some general Vanar staple card and neutral staple card suggestions welcome too.

Just as a side note I do not know how to post decks that would also be a welcome tip.

Alot of 2, hunt should be at 2 and I question the inclusion of a lot of the cards.

Hmm… I suppose you’re right. I included glacial fissure because I always hated it when my opponent knew about avalanche and stayed just out of range in the middle column and I wanted revenge. Mirrorrim is to duplicate the good cards and my healers. Any specifics you question?

Mirrorim: No real combo peices you can duplicate.

Wolfraven: Too weak without infiltrate (infiltrate in general isn’t that powerful.)

Flash Freeze: You clearly don’t have yggdra based on how budget your list is so its not worth running flash freeze. (Its also an Ilena card.)

Bonechill Barrier: The walls are easy to avoid and you aren’t playing Glacial Elemental to combo. (Don’t add that card in either, I like it in some mid lists but decks are better without it usually.)

Cryonic Potential: You aren’t running Spirit of the Wild.

Avalanche: I have seen this card work but it really isn’t good.

Understandable on the Mirrorrim. Understandable on the Wolfraven. Flash Freeze has gotten me out of too many pinches and is just too good a card in general to give up + no mana cost. The whole reason I switched from Abbysian is because I liked to use wraithling swarm to hide but wraithlings aren’t that powerful and I use it for stall. Cryonic potential makes powerhouses fast. Avalanche has saved the game too many times for me to not think it worthwhile. Thank you. Any suggestions on what to replace with?

An important note (aplying to the flash freeze arguement) you don’t want to win some games, you want to win the most games possible.

Just becuz there is no malicious boi in this list doesnt mean your not still satan.

If you have spirit to spare:

  • Substitute Flash Freeze with Fridgid Corona. While it might be much more expansive, the fact that it cycles itself and can stun generals to prevent escape makes it all worth it. I can’t stress the importance of general movement enough.
  • Add hearthsisters. Movement is key in this game. Hearthsister bundles what I consider to be the strongest card in the game, Juxtaposition, onto a 2 mana 3/2 body. There is no reason not to run these.
  • Malicious Wisp. If you want to play Vanar as your main faction, you gotta get some Malicious Wisps. While they are fat and uncrispy, these guys win you games, and work wonders in any deck.

Seconding Hearth-sister. Especially if you’re running Avalanche and Glacial Fissure (and Faie, for that matter).

Position-based damage is so much sweeter when you get to dictate their position yourself.

Those are some good suggestions thank you. But why the blue conjurer if there are no other arcaynists

Cause he has a really, really low curve so he procs conjurer to get minions/draw.

Also because he thinks Blue Conjurer is the strongest card in the game and is heretic for saying so.

Blue Conjurer doesn’t need other arcanysts. He might as well read “opening gambit: you win the game” the card is insanely powerful and provides a ton of advantage.

Hmm… I guess his ability offers variety. I just really like Myriad. Like I said, if the opponent has a powerhouse, I like to stall them in order to hopefully draw a chromatic cold.

Why stall them when you could just win the game?

Not to mention that Corona, Fox, Prison and CCold all do the same thing just a lot better.

300, its a rare (I only play 2 in that list but having a third is nice.)

Hmm… Not bad. At least one doen’t cost 900 spirit. On a different note, does anyone have any faction and neutral staple cards?

Like the others said, hearth sisters are your friends. They’re an easy 3 of in every vanar deck you’ll make. Frigid corona is another great card. Concealing shroud and razorback can be great in many lists but are more situational. If you get to the point where you can craft some legendaries, gravity well is very good. Good neutral cards include cryptographer, blue conjurer, and lightbender. Jax is also a great legendary for vanar.

Also add Cloud Caller and Malicious Wisp.
