Duelyst Forums

Unofficial Announcements

Hey guys, Dr. Phoenix here, I am creating this post to show some news being presented by CPG in random threads specifically for those of you who don’t have the time to look through everything posted on these forums, on Reddit or on Twitter.

This announcement made by the elusive @stormshade was made responding to concerns of the community regarding a lack of production on CPG’s part of improving the game as well as questions over whether anything has seriously improved as a result of the Bandai Namco partnership.

This announcement was in response to @MEgix thread regarding the concern for a lack of Duelyst publicity in certain social media platforms and even within the game itself.

This announcement was made in regards to MEgix’s thread suggesting a few changes to the Duelyst Boss gameplay. If you were present for the Developer’s talk where the main topic being discussed was Boss gameplay, then you will not find anything new here as @ThanatosNoa simply repeats what was already said at that talk.

Here is the video of the developer talk from the official Duelyst youtube channel:
Duelyst Developer Talk - Episode #6 - Boss Battle Anniversary

One more thing to post here in the OP: minion sneak peeks! Assuming some of you do not follow social media or do not follow Duelyst on Twitter at least (like me) here are the current sneak peeks they have provided on their twitter account @PlayDuelyst:

01.12.18: Lyonar

01.16.18: Vanar

01.23.18: Abyssian

01.24.18: Vetruvian

01.30.18: Songhai

I suggest you guys go check out their twitter channel and follow to see more stuff like this!

If any more official unofficial news becomes available, I will be sure to report it here as I have no life and scroll the forums daily for friends and news!

From time to time I may also host unofficial unofficial news as a psuedo bump or maybe just as a comedy section.

Lyonar: The azure emugriff, rarest and proudest of all the emugriffs.

Vanar: Um, Mei, don’t you have some Overwatch matches to be participating in? Is this your second job now? Is Blizzard not paying you enough?

Abyssian: Masked, horned scythe girl with…glowing feathers? She looks pretty cool and- [scrolls down farther] STILTS WHY.

Vetruvian: Smash like an Egyptian.

Songhai: Crouching master, hidden blade.

I like the abyssian one, but it reminds me of something

Thanks, @phoenixtoasches! This is very useful!

If you want to make it even greater, why don’t you (or anyone else) introduce a very short summary of the developers’ talk? As a non-native speaker with limited time, it is inconvenient for me to go through the video

I’m working on a write up about what we discussed during the talk, so you can just jump to the sections you want to read

A challenger draws near…

I will edit this post with the summary before Mr. Noa, we will see who is worthy of @tsevech’s validation.

You may want to get closer to @isbee as he did a pretty efficient job wrapping up the FAQ

You’re seriously challenging the community manager himself? Thanks a lot! And also to @ThanatosNoa, let’s see who does the best job

Hey guys, it seems like @ThanatosNoa beat me to the jump and released his guide to the Developer Talk video on youtube. If you have any time, take a chance to read it, it has a lot of interesting information regarding balancing bosses, boss skins and even information about game modes!

I would dare say that it is even better than watching the video, thanks to Mr. Noa once again for providing us with this!

…And finally the last minion of the first wave of minion sneak peeks in early February has been release for Magmar (02.06.18)!

Here is the sprite:

And here is some other news you may not know about specifically for those of you who don’t mindlessly frequent the Official Duelyst Discord. The following was a(n) (unofficial) statement made by Thanatos Noa about his regrets over the failure to deliver Duelyst mobile in early 2017:

Thanatos Noa:

Dooly Mobile was an error of communication on my behalf:
I believed we would hit a deadline, we didn’t, prorities got shifted and we got picked up by a publisher. Made a fool of myself and the company, that I did. It’s not a dropped project, but because of my statements we are well behind the first projected ETA :magsad:

Dooly Mobile confirmed for the future, wont give another ETA due to my rising anxiety of the last time I gave an eta

The next exchange took place between phoenixtoasches and Thanatos Noa about how the competitive scene in Duelyst should it be sparked up (and he did hint at this during chat with a subtle “coming soon™”) will be handled in regards to newer players:

phoenixtoasches:

Will weaker players be steamrolled in your attempts to rebuild the Duelyst competitive scene?
It would suck if the ladder became so saturated with top skill players that players normally in gold would be bronze.

Thanatos Noa:

Already addressed that concern with BNEA and have suggested a competitive scene structure that should accomodate players of rankings (but important to note: rankings =/= skill)

Well, that’s all for now, I hope you readers found this interesting and I’ll see you soon!
