Trials of Mythron- Oak in the Nemeton

@ThanatosNoa Plz help(no discoverable meme plz)

Sadly Winter’s Wake is rotating, and since this doesn’t let the Walls move I’m not convinced it would be as solid a combo.

However… I think I like this. It’s not super easy to pull off since most token generation is expensive mana-wise, and the wording makes it sound like you have to have 5 types out at once… but depending on how the interaction works it could be totally worth it. It’s rare for your opponent to remove every wall on your board in one turn, Luminous Charge is still a good enough card, and Embla basically ensures you get 3 tokens on the field at once unless you’re really unlucky. Actually Embla in general is nuts with this card, since removing the buffed walls will be basically impossible (bar EMP) and they then just kill the opponent next turn. Cirrculus/Prismatic Illusionist, Wintertide/Voice of the Wind and that new Treat minion can all provide extra token types and are good solo cards, and the two remaining Aspect cards could be used on Wall Spells to diversify the number of tokens you have for fairly low costs. And this isn’t even considering other summoners like Fenrir Warmaster, Drake Dowager, Myriad or Firestarter… oh goodness Firestarter after playing this is INSANE.

Given the relative difficulty of the other trial conditions I have to think this is “Have 5 Token types on board simultaneously”, but the key thing to note is that is to unlock the minion. Once you’ve cleared the trial you should be able to just summon this minion even if you lose one of those toke types, which greatly helps the playability. And as soon as you get it you could throw Gravity Well on board and put your opponent in a real tough spot.

I like it. Unlike the other Mythrons it isn’t strictly an auto-win upon playing it, but it’s a little easier to clear as a result.

Some other fun things with this:

  1. This is pretty good against Songhai since it turns Panddo’s against them by providing a rough token for them to remove.
  2. If you want to super-meme Khymera can spawn a ton of tokens you can’t otherwise get in Vanar, so that could be fun.
  3. It could be interesting vs other Vanar decks that use Aspects against you if they’re unable to kill them in one shot.

Thank you based loremaster, helping the lazy boys like me to get through the reveals.

This is so vague I don’t even know what I’m helping with :magsad:

explain the condition, does it have to be all 5 at the same time?

I believe you need to have 5 different(ly named) tokens at the same time.

Get your Emblas out and prepare to have a wild ride.

Buildings and sentinal is considered token, right?

Oh, one thing I forgot in my original post - I much prefer this to Magmar’s Mythron because the condition to play it doesn’t require you to play a bunch of clunky combo cards. Wall spells and Arcanyst minions are all very good in their own right, and don’t need other cards to work with them. Stuff like Gravity Well and Luminous Charge can be played by themselves no problem, so your deck is less likely to brick whilst you try and assemble spare walls and so on to make this work.

totally forgot about those

I believe so, yes. Aspect spells also turn minions into tokens (all except for shimzar, but shimzar is rotating out).

That’s correct.

The condition looks a bit hard to fulfill, although Vanar does have the largest arsenal of token generators out of all of the factions so maybe it will work out.

One thing to keep in mind if this does turn out to be playable is that, as with all Mythron minions, your opponent will know right away that this is your wincon since you start the game with six cards instead of 5. However, unlike previously revealed Mythrons your opponent can actually interact with your Trial progression and will probably try their best to prevent you from fulfilling the Trial.

Although, every deck should run mythron cards as this means they are running less cards.

Well, as a Vanar main I’ve been looking forward to this reveal…
Can’t say I’m impressed with it at all.

My favourite Vespyr deck is going to be losing some key pieces, and there’s been literally nothing announced that could take their place yet, so I was hoping against hope the Mythron would be something that could mesh with it. This… doesn’t really do anything useful for my existing decks, and it doesn’t really sound fun enough to be worth building a completely different deck around. The trial sounds frustrating and the payoff not really worth it.

It’s probably not a terrible card, just… a bit disappointing my main faction’s fanciest card doesn’t work for me.

Edit: I would’ve really loved something that played with positionally-related things, since that’s one of the things I like about Vanar. Even something like “you can move the enemy general one space on your turn” would’ve opened up a ton of fun shenanigans.

If its at the same time this is horrid, if its over the game this is pretty epic.

Great Kara wall support if its the latter, if its the former than there is a typo in the name and it should be memetown.

Edit: Although Grandmaster Embala could do it by her self. Perhaps yet again having a knee jerk reaction, perhaps its pretty easy to pull off and is pretty strong once you do. Still think it would be much better just increasing the number of tokens at that point then making it at the same time.

If this really needs all 5 different minions in play I wonder how the playtesters EVER got to the Destiny in their test games…

This is infuriating.

Some walls shenanigan, ghost wolf, and Spriggin’s 3 token I guess. And Dioltas.

Ghost wolf and the tombstone are hard to remove in one go, and Spriggin or Grandmaster Embla will give you 3 different token (except if you are unlucky).

Edit : Just checked the wikia, forget what I said on Spriggin it’s always three copies of the same kin. Can’t know that unless you play it or search !

Really hope there is a card in this expansion like:

Memetown
3 Mana Spell
Summon 5 different friendly token minions at random spaces

Yeah … sure as hell I will try to get to 8 mana to cast Embla… just to hope that two other minions survive until then.

Sorry to bring it to you, but have you ever seen a Vanar board with more than 2-3 minons surviving?

Spriggin summons 3 of the same kind, wow, you could simply cast a Bonechill Barrier for the same effect

Dioltas rotates out, so no

And yes, you can be unlucky with Embla.
