Trials of Mythron - Chirpuka (Neutral)

Do you ever get tired of your opponents summoning minions one after one? Want to exert board dominance on the board against incoming enemies? You’re in luck; this guy knows a couple of friends who would be willing to help .

ChirpukaPuka

And here is Chirpuka! Right off the bat I can see this as a really good counter to Zirix’s, Lilithe’s, Reva’s, Ragnora’s, and Brome’s Bloodbound spell in most situations, as its effect will proc regardless of how the enemy minion is summoned. This also makes this card a good tech against Swarm Lilithe and Swarm Brome, as the Pukas will spawn off of all of the Wraithling’s summons and the Pukas have enough stats to effectively counter an unbuffed Crestfallen. The provoke on the Pukas can also be a good tool to help combat against rush minions.

Looking at its stats, a 5 mana 3/6 is on the lower end, but its stats are not terrible, especially when you consider that it has the potential to summon multiple 2/1s with Provoke. In terms of where it will see play, I can definitely see this supporting both Neutral Mythron decks and the Vanar Mythron deck. I could also see this being played in a more midranged Vetruvian deck, as playing around this card’s effect can make the opponent suspectable to blast (Thunderhorn + Projection) in a manner similar to Stars’ Fury. This card also feels like a must-pick for gauntlet, as it can be a really good minion to help combat backline minions and generals like Reva and Ragnora.

I like it, its quite different and the fact that it has the same style as the new general that summons a 1/2 taunt infront of it. This is a nice anti-agro and works great with provoke synergy. I don’t think it is as strong for Vet because of the 5 mana removals we have, but on the otherhand it looks and plays nice.

Personal Rating: 6.5/10!

It’s so… cute!

And looks like a potentially good card, if it can find its niche. Gumming up the opponent with free Taunts is really nice, but a 3/6 body for 5 is pretty steep too.

Its cute, till you summon an Iron Dervish from your bbs.

how the heck does this interact with dancing blades

So I guess if the space is occupied, it doesn’t trigger, if the space is EMPTY, shouldn’t the order be Chirpuka summons a 2/1 —> Dancing Blades Summons --> Openning Gambit Triggers? Or am I on minimum brain cells?

OG will always resolve first, so it’s OG will do nothing, and then Puka will be summoned unharmed (unless Dancing blades was summoned directly in front of a minion. I believe in that case, if the minion dies by Dancing Blades, a Puka will be summoned. I want to say the same thing with Lavaslasher, but we all know Lavaslasher likes to break the rules).

a perfect counter to the dance of memes

also, sandswirl reader actually procs phantasm(which is capable of landing the buff ON ITSELF). which is why this question is so important

Can’t wait to use this with Auroara! I’m sure this can be used in a wide range of conventional decks, given how it can singlehandedly build a board, albeit a weak one.

  • So… this seems like a good counter to Obelysks…
  • You give all summoning generals a hard time ( diagonal placement gets punished)…
  • You essentially punish all forward/ offensive summoning. It gets worse if they are in the range of 1-3 mana drops with low health.
  • Vanar tokens will use this and also have a hard time against it.

i really like it that you can play around it with most decks

I can see so many situations where this would actually help deathwatch decks instead of hindering them… :smiling_imp: seems like a fun card to play with and against!

My reaction to this, as an Abyssian swarm main:
rosebud

In all honesty though, this isn’t that bad. Just gotta make sure you have a Shadowdancer in play.

I can actually see this being quite detrimental when being played against deathwatch abyssian decks.

In terms of anti-swarm, I’m not that enthused by it. It contributes to the control anti-swarm archetype while the niche anti-swarm cards we have (Crimson Occulus and Venom Toth) are oriented towards a more aggresive play-style.
That said, I’ll be excited to play this in my swarm lyonar decks!

@longshot405, wait so the ball held up against 2 steps but only decided to shatter on the floor? What sorcery is this?!

edit: just realized the steps were carpeted
