Trial & Destiny should get a dedicated interface

I’m sure this was brought up in related discussions, but haven’t found any dedicated topic. Note that despite the phrasing it’s still a suggestion.

What must be done:

  1. Bugfixes, obviously.
  2. Mythrons should get their own slot, separate from hand. As of now, they take space for half of the game, limiting designed hand size, with possibility to burn a card on the first turn if you’re unlucky.
  3. Progression counter should be visible all the time to both players, not just as a stat on the General.
  4. Progression should be animated or get a sound effect; Ascension and Promotion, like other nonobvious card effects, should get a tooltip similar to keywords.

Sorry, I think anything but bug fixes is unneeded.

Taking a hand slot btw somewhat balanced the advantage of having a clear and powerful win condition.

If we were talking about some other game I’d surely agree. But this is Duelyst, it’s not about balance, it’s about lategame shenanigans.

You can see the Mythron counter when you hover the mouse over a general, so I don’t think we need another separate UI. As for unique animations, I’m fully up for it. Legendary cards have unique animations when played, so why not Mythrons? I was kind of disappointed when Mythron cards didn’t have any special visual flair, despite their exclusivity.

Like where they remove that mechanic? 2 of them are worth anything and they break the game. The rest are just idiotic.

Excuse me? :face_with_monocle:

looks like my post was edited or something… that’s nowhere near what I put… I think I might’ve pissed off a mod… so I’ll be quiet…

I wouldn’t mind getting a always visible visual for the trials. I never check if my opponent is playing one at the start of the game and have gotten screwed by it once or twice. Something like “Hey idiot, this guy is playing a trial!” would be nice.

Actually about this. I was watching @deathsadvocate stream on saturday and he was playing against a vanar player, who ran blazing spines. So I suggested that he checks, if the opponent isnt playing trial. I turned out right and you could see him changing his playstyle to a more board-controlish rather than aggresive. So knowing if your opponent is playing trial might be a very valuable information. Im pretty sure it would be another thread to discuss strategies against certain trials.

You can check what they have changed.

Like I got the notification that @akurane edited one of my posts and all he did was fix my grammar.

Thanks btw, I would never have noticed it then!

That’s what happened to me, I wasn’t cleaning up stray walls and let him get the trial super easily
