Time for new Tourneys, fresh blooded grandmasters!

Hello all! Time for me to make a serious topic for once.

I have came to invite you all to help vote for more official or large tournaments, such as dwc, to revitalize duelyst for the more competetive scene.

As we have seen, a few pro dooly players have been leaving lately, and there are more than a few players who have been asking this, new and old to the scene.

@stormshade has expressly stated that this isnt coming back until it gets more support and interest by the community, and of course, we ARE the community.

So, if you want to see this come back, help show your commitment by voting in this poll!

It’d be cool to have an official major league so that we can all steal deck ideas and plays from the pros, while also having a more laid back and noobie-friendly little league.

Honestly…duelyst hasn,t enough deph for tournaments in my opinion.Too much comes down to luck(i remember someone winning a tournamentgame because he replaced his 1 last card in hand into a necro sphere after he got surrounded by emblawalls)

A fun casual experience…but not suited to be hardcore competetive

Duelyst is mostly skill and moments like that happen a lot because of decks being consistent.

It ain’t luck, mostly skill.

Also, just gonna say, Hearthstone has shit tons of tournaments and Duelyst used to have a lot in the past. Luck was only ever a major factor in AB meta… that meta was home to DWC.

Im talking from my perspective.Tournaments should be about determining the best players of duelyst.A good player will win more likely but even he will simetimes get the tournament where he gets kicked out early because he got outdrawn and outmatchuped
Duelyst isn,t very skillbased…most things in duelyst are very straightforward,especialy with the current race meta

The reason HS is so popular is that mainstream players are filthy casuals…they want to see crazy turns and turnarounds constantly,not caring about the actual skill involved as HS proofes.If the losing player turns it around by getting insanely lucky with RNG they are excited and impressed,not dissapointed like i am by the winner winning in such a way.

Duelyst mitagates it the most out of any others your example is one of the most stupid you could’ve proposed.

My god MTG and YGO has draw rng! No tournaments for you.

My god Gwent and Shadowverse has draw rng! No tournaments for you.

Apparently you’re a good player but your reasoning makes you sound like you’re trying to think of an excuse for why you’re not bad.

Also, the results of tournaments have always and will always be won by the most skilled.

Draw RNG was a bad example indeed
The overall results of MANY tournaments will usualy show the best players…but the result of 1 tournament doesn,t tell that much as luck can realy be backbreaking or backmaking sometimes

Duelyst removes most draw RNG and the replace mechanic realy increases the skillcap…the skillcap hoever is still quite low compared to other competetive games(dota2,fighting games,…you can play these for thousands of hours and still have alot stuff left to learn as you will see when you get *** by the toptierplayers.In duelyst you should have a chance at beating a toptierplayer after 100-200 hours unless he pulls out the best the meta has to offer)

Thats just my opinion

Im a bit dissapointed…i prefer TB but can,t find a PVP game that replaces the micro/macro/reflexes of RT with deph (deph to the point where i still get destroyed after countless hours by toptierplayers)

I have to honestly admit that I don’t care. Competitive side of Duelyst is not my thing.

While I enjoyed watching some tourney replays posted on the forums.

I understand that it’s good for game’s longevity, but I’m not going to take part in them. I’m not so good and not going to be. Irl I have much more pressing issues which require my attention.

Would it be better if you could tutor every card you draw? I guess it would be a disaster of a game, @terrarius.

Thing is, Duelyst is a card game which inherently has RNG, completely eliminating rng from a card game including draw rng is an interesting enough concept that it could make it’s own game.

I will also like to point out that casual players just don’t join competitive orientated tourneys and I know this first hand. Over the course of 1 tournament it shows you who was the best because of that.

Yet even casual player’s are invested in the meta as seen by the popularity of tier lists and recent power rankings. Even the most casual FNM magic player probably has been inspired by competitive decks via either the SCG circuit or word of mouth.

And unfortunately these deck building content creators ARE heavily invested in the competitive areas of their games and feed content to the less invested in general.

Casual gamers in games such as this are a key part of said games success but without a top end that drives content it’s a much worse game for it, especially in our case where almost all content is community driven as is.

I understand the complex relations you are talking about, but it doesn’t change the fact that casual players won’t support tournaments directly.

While I’m all for the poll, I just want to point out that polls are easy. I’ll need to see action in order to bring something this big back.

We’ll need to see more tournaments, more people joining them, and more tournaments actually finishing in order to make a good case to bring something like this back.
