The Future of Duelyst

Hello,

Been playing duelyst for a few months now off an on, and have to say…what a great game. It reminds me of so many other cleverly designed digical card games I have played in the past that have unique and exciting mechanics that no one has used before.

However, I worry that, like those game, this one will see no real progress for the future. New cards are necessary to prevent stagnation but in the end the game dies as soon as it stops being exciting.

One feature I can’t seem to get any info on is the Mobile Version. Frankly this is the only reason I play Duelyst sporadically. Mobile would give me access anywhere and would drastically increase how much i play.

There is also one big feature that I miss from other card games, and that is something that promotes cooperative play. Something like incorporating guilds would be one way to do this.

I think this is a great game, but I will refrain from further investment until I see movement on different features in the game.

A real ETA on mobile would be outstanding, but I wont hold my breath.

Cheers,
H.G.

Always good to know that we have to have one of these threads after every expansion :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully they also are going to translate the game in other languages

Never thought this for a CCG. I like it.

I think Shardbound does this, they use a guild system for rewards and things like that.

You know that every other game from the family already got mobile version (even faeria).
And yes player base is decreasing, marketing the game wasn’t good as we thought it would be when banco bought our beloved cpg, frankly - duelyst went from getting no markrting to getting a slightly better one.

I think the devs are bound to speak more to the com., work on balance and make the monthly update count and they should update us regarding the mobile version.

and when is the next expansion due anyway?

Now I see an even bigger problem, Hand of the Gods has come out…and yes its in beta. However, it is nearly identical in some ways to duelyst with more money behind hit, more marketing, and will 100% be mobile in the future…Even though Duelyst is a better game design, HOTG will just about nullify any chance Duelyst has to grab onto the market. Literally the only chance they have is to get onto mobile first. If they can do this, they might be able to come back…otherwise…its GG for Duelyst.

Eh, I haven’t played HotG but fine Hi-rez is a decent company, I suspect it will become big. The problem with Hi-rez is there constant balancing, and fast gameplay which Duelyst seems to want, that will probably put them in direct competition. Also, I haven’t liked anything Hi-rez had made so I didn’t try HotG although I did see it was in beta. I don’t trust them to make any kind of fun game of quality, but they’ll definitely get exposure and most people won’t have been exposed to a duelyst like game (outside of Nintendo/Gba players).

Not salty enough … for now

Constant balancing?
I may try it out:D

In all seriousness:the devs strict stance against ANY kind of balancefix is duelyst biggest and very fatal flaw…whenever something cancerous reaches the top of the meta we can be certain that we will have to deal with it for MANY months until it gets touched.

Well atleast its better than konami with yugioh banlists or hearthstone with balance fixes.

worry not! their art is terrible  and the animation is terrible  The balance is terrible  The matchmaking is terrible! The transactions are terrible(and the transactions got better in duelyst now!) and the playerbase they’re pulling is from SMITE? "hey let’s play this incredibly unbalanced and boring version of SMITE!

that is not to say duelyst doesn’t have competent competitors though, like Faeria.
Don’t worry about marketing, that’s BAMCO’s job!

I sure would love an android port for duelyst though :frowning:

In Smite, every patch something is touched if any one or any thing seems in any way to be overperforming or underperforming. I think it’s tiring, but the meta supposedly stays balanced.

Better than having something broken like vanarcanyst to than wait months until it gets fixed…i wonder how long it will take them to nerf phantasm and luminous discharge:(

I care alot about the meta.,…how much did you actually play smite tactics(never played smite)?
Im realy thinking about starting with it…i just want to be certain that im playing towards a healthy competetive level that gets patches by the devs unlike duelystmeta which doesnt get touched until waaay too late

So please explain to me unbiased and accurately why smite tactics meta is bad and not worth trying

Maybe it will be wiser to end the suffering, give up and offer your account ?

@locoblutaxt See ? That’s what I meant :wink:

Smite tactics is actually fun.
Furthermore - every game on the tcg family that came out lately is nice (shardbound, faeria got stunning art, the smite thingy, etc…) which means bad news for duelyst and player base.

But hey, when the devs don’t give a shit why should the players? Long story short, they will announce a new expansion in a short time, say that mobile will come “soon”, balance a few cards without touching the problems and lose another half of the playerbase a couple of months after.

And you will still be there ? :frowning:
