Psa: you do not need to play a highlander deck to summon wanderer

@ThanatosNoa

I was playing wanderer rag with 2 flashes today, didn’t draw a flash but was still able to play wanderer on 6

then, i shoved wanderer into a zirix deck full of 3 ofs, still is able to be summoned

https://play.duelyst.com/replay?replayId=-LD8p0Pjp9xRKrU9tuoa

i will test the other trials now

ALL THE OTHER TRIALS WORK AS INTENDED, I TESTED TITAN AND IT WORKS AS NORMAL ASWELL, IT’S JUST WANDERER THAT’S BUGGED

i can’t believe we only tried now :joy:
or is this a new bug?

It’s probably a bug. I bet that CPG is on the job and will be releasing a hotfix soon enough.

God fucking dammit.

Well…something had to replace Decivore

@galaxydueler, thanks for finding this.

@ThanatosNoa, can we abuse this bug as long as it’s working without getting in trouble?

:joy:
I’m torn between being afraid of tanking my ladder rank against crazy decks abusing this, and a small part of me wanting to get in on the insanity while it lasts.

Quick, what deck type would be most horrifyingly broken by an out-of-place Wanderer?

hyper swarm. Hyper fucking swarm. imagine 4/2 frenzy wraithlings with furor chakram. Or even with soulshatter pact. 3/3 gloomchasers spawning 2/2 wraithlings. Oh, and did wraithling swarm just summon 3 goddamn 2/2’s? well shit. ah, I almost forgot, that’s the faction that has darkfire sacrifice isn’t it?..

I can concur.
My testing proves this

to be fair, if i had wanderer, i really wanted to see how it feels to play a 5/5 warbeast. or 5/8 slashers. or a 4/2 tiger, and a 6/5 elucidator. Damn I wish I had it.

If I meet you non-highlander Wanderer scums, Y’all getting reported just like Apexvore scumbags.

grumble grumble
so a bug stealthily buffs Wanderer, who was already pretty darn strong
grumble grumble

In all serious I hope they fix this soon, having to face Wanderer in EVERY ladder match instead of only 40% of them doesn’t look very promising.

This is the kind of colossal balance bug I’d expect to see hotfix’d within a day or two, tops, but I guess you never really know.

I think it’s hilarious right now (just for the ridiculous possibilities), but if it goes on any longer than that it’ll become a huge problem.

You know? I was already running Nemetown in Snowhai for consistency, power! Unlimited power!

Repeat to yourself, I did not read that, I totally, and honestly, did not read that. Who would write that? That’s like committing a crime, calling the cops and saying “yo this is cool, right?”

Ok, as a person (and not a developer), let me be very explicitly clear (this goes out to any game you’ve ever played, not just Duelyst).

IF SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING AS INTENDED, DO NOT “ABUSE” IT AND RUN THE RISK OF PUNISHMENT

You guys can repeat after me: do not abuse it and run the risk of punishment.

We (the BNEA+CPG partnership as a whole) have been very lenient on how we approach these issues (partially because it affects a relatively small portion of our playerbase, partially because we all make a really tight community) but this is not to say that we won’t ever issue bans, or that people don’t get into trouble.

This is not to say that this mentality will remain the same for current and future issues.

Other company/developers have a strict iron fist when it comes to issues. Depending on the severity of the issues, minor to major actions may be taken.

(Anyone remember when GW permanently banned players for using their npc vendors to get gear?)

MORAL OF THE STORY: If you feel like you have to ask, you probably shouldn’t bother to ask.

And this is why I asked. I didn’t actually know if you guys cared. Because if you didn’t care, then I wasn’t about to go out and run the risk of people running me over because they’re using the glitch and I’m trying to be fair. I would hate that. Since you care, I won’t.

I wasn’t intending to take it to the ladder, but I was considering throwing together a deck to test against a friend in friendly matches (vs. another bug deck) just to see what nonsense we could get up to.

Would it be correct to assume this could also result in punishment, then?
