Long intro
At the start of every new season I look for rarely used Vanar cards to build a deck around. And every time, I see Matron Elveiti and want to make a deck where she’s the star. But then I’m reminded that the card is just too costly for an effect that 90% of the time does not matter.
To recap, on release, the card prevented minions from attacking and counter attacking your general. This was somewhat useful. But it was later patched to fit the description word for word.
This means that minions cannot attack your general. But cards like Bloodtear Alchemist, Shadow Dancer and Ox can all damage your general with their effects. So it doesn’t prevent minion damage.
I want Matron Elveiti to be enjoyable to play so I came up with rough ideas that I feel helps it become intresting to use.
- 8 mana 7/5 Opening Gambit : your general gains Cannot be attacked by minions
- 7 mana 7/5 your general gains provoke and cannot be attacked by minions
- 7 mana 7/5 your general cannot be dammaged by enemy minions
- 6 mana 6/5 your general cannot be attacked (including ennemy general’s attack)
- 9 mana 6/7 your general do not take damage from minions or spells (bloodrage mask and the likes still damages)
- 8 mana 4/5 both your general and this minion cannot be attacked by minions
