I can frankly attest to this game’s lack of marketing. I’ve heard of hearthstone loads of times, and have seen their banner ads everywhere. But even though Duelyst happens to be a great game, well rated by critics, and a direct competitor to hearthstone, the manner in which I found it was when I was looking for pixel art. And when I looked for the origin of the pixel art, I had to go through some eight webpages till I found duelyst. Though I’m glad I went through all that trouble now, I honestly have to admit that It’s a bit disheartening to know that such a great game has such terrible marketing, if any at all.
What any multiplayer game requires is a fanbase, and I sure as hell don’t want Duelyst to die. Or for it to be shut down like Paragon. That would simply devastating. Honestly I back @alplod idea, because to be fair, we aren’t even asking for CPG to spend loads of cash on ads. We’re just asking them to shoot a quick mail through their subscription newletter already. They have access to that, so why can’t they use it? And it can be 100% implented honestly.
Any normal marketing would be splendid as well. It doesn’t take much effort to go ahead and design a simple webpage ad. Just displaying it for a short time would get so many new players. And given that in the current meta, especially in low silver-low gold, just about any super budget wanderer deck makes it, new players may not even have all that much difficulty getting into things.(of course they have to get wanderer first for it to be a level playing ground, and maybe making wanderer the first mythron you get makes a load more sense, followed by your most-played faction’s mythron, second-most played faction’s mythron et etc.)
But the way I see it, now is the time when any shitty budget deck with whatever cards you get from the orbs, along with wanderer can beat down loads of decks(so its really noob friendly). Given that we still have three months or so to the nerf patch + expansion thats supposed to be out in the fourth quarter, this meta is just gonna have to last a bit longer, and while we will have to deal with a huge influx of wanderer decks, it’ll be worth it for the playerbase.
