Duelyst Forums

Lets summarize stuff (forum game)

One english challenge is to summarize your life or an aspect of it in a 6 word long phrase.

One example among many I saw a long time ago is “I still make coffee for two”

There were more, but none really resonated with me like that. So I wrote a little very short story based off it. If yall want me to post it, poll is here

  • Post the story
  • Dont post the story

Anyways, whether it be about duelyst, your life, or anything, i felt it might be fun to come up with some of these.
(Also, if I feel like itd work and someone is ok with it I may write something off their phrase for fun)

My story:

For two

6 am. With a sharp alarm piercing my ears I groggily wake up. I still haven’t gotten used to it, and I suspect I never will be. Throwing off the sheets, I stumble into the sickly green marble bathroom. Staring at the mess of my face in the mirror, I feel the size of the glass to be overbearing. I swear there was two toothbrushes as I splash my face with freezing water. Clothes on, bed made, teeth brushed. Clearing the pills off the kitchen counter, I put a pot on. Eventually the glasses filled to the brim, their bittersweet aroma burned into my nostrils. I take a seat at the table too big for me and absentmindedly pour milk into the french roasts. I look into the swirling masses and see a familiar smile.

I still make coffee for two.

Just had to edit a couple errors.

So the narrator of the story recently broke up?

For sale, baby shoes, never worn.

EDIT: Should add in here that this is not mine, it’s just a quote.

“And that helicopter couldn’t get me off mountain.”

Not the best summary of my life, tbf, but the most hilarious story I have.

Edit. This one is more appropriate.

I should have never borrowed her books.

Edit2. Oh, if it should just be summary without any story. 6 words exactly.

Living in a fantasy, but charming.

Dedicated to hating this filth forever.

Also, how freaking edgy is that?
‘Ugh, my sadness knows no bounds.’
‘I’m forever cursed by insufferable despair!’
‘Woe is me, everything sucks eternally.’

Here’s something more fitting for myself:
Unlimited potential curbed by incurable sloth.

More like…

“The sinister smile never faded away.”
“He was proven wrong after all.”
“Is this stuff on the test?”

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

…but yeah, it fades over time…but never goes away…so I choose living with it rather than abrupt finality. I am preparing for if everyone I know and love…should happen to die before I do. Don’t get me wrong, though…I am not letting the despair drive me away from enjoying my life with my loved ones. The dream of life is sweet, indeed.

Or she died. I wrote it as if she died, with the pills and all, but you can interpret it in different ways.

Heres a poll, vote on the one you want turned into a story. I will then ask the author of the most popular choice whether or not its ok for me to reimagine their summary. Dont vote for yourselves please.

  • I will live with my sorrow
  • Living in a fantasy, but charming
  • Early school years, never forget them
  • Mediocre person struggles with mediocre life
  • Guild gone, the memories live on
  • I still see her in dreams

Swimming along, enjoying life, also hot boyfriend.

…for the person living with sorrows and stuff, I got a pretty darn good psychotherapist recommendation if you ever visit Romania. Dirt cheap and fixes you in like 5 sessions.

Visiting Romania would almost be enough by itself.
