I have to echo what others have said before. It’s absurd that the turn timer keeps ticking down even though I’m advancing the game state by playing cards or moving minions.
The game allows for the creation of lots of minions and for casting several spells in a single turn but actively punishes those strategies by having a fixed, and rather short, amount of time to complete all your actions. This could be easily solved by adding a few seconds to your timer every time you take an action and, if necessary, setting an upper limit like 5 min to avoid people creating “loops” in an attempt to making their opponents concede.
Improve the turn timer
Its fine. Its not punishing, if anything it just demands more skill out of the player. Also, do you want trolls to extend the turn timer almost indefinitely?
I play mantra and swarm. Those decks require some of the highest calculations and/or decision making skills. I hit the rope all the time. I have even roped unoptimally before. Its part of the game, and part of the challenge. I deal with it. I still win games
Having infinite time makes card games a loooot easier. I play magic the gathering, so I know this.
It seems like you didn’t read what I wrote to carefully. I did not advocate for infinite turn time. Not giving you enough time to physically complete all of your actions is indeed punishing. Since you are a Magic player you know how the “slow play” rules work. You are allowed substantially more time than 90 seconds as long as you are advancing the game state.
I did read what you said, and as a magic player I do agree with your statement about magics rules. Except about the advancing the board state thing. Ive played many many tourneys where players sat on their cards to wait out the opponent for a draw without doing anything but maybe fake tapping a land then returning it.
In any case, current timer is fine.
Well, those Magic-scenarios you experienced are completely on you for not calling for a judge. In this game there is no judge to call for so the game itself has to be able to recognize when a player is actually being active to give additional time allowances.
I and many others have called judges, this still happens. They just pretend a little better. 70% of the time the judges dont do nearly anything about it because its still pretty easy to fake for some.
I think is better if the timer just pause with every animation. So you still have 90 sec to think and do things, but wont rope because that egg didnt spawn fast enough
Speaking of animations I think it would be nice if there was a way to speed up animations per request. Like clicking anywhere during an animation speeds it up.
surprisingly, I’ve developed my game sense vs mantra so much that I know how much damage they’ll put out even before they do
unless they have crescent spear. my game sense just tells me to press “Concede”
I think T2K5 has some helper script that speeds up and or skips animation. You may want to look into that
Just because a deck is not interactive, doesnt mean piloting it to maintain optimal efficiency does not require skill.
I have no respect for times when people try to subjectively classify things as if they doing it objectively.
Even if a deck tilts me (which is rare now) I always try my best to take an objective stance on matters.
First of all, it wasn’t serious, I think that’s obvious. Second, I play a burn Songhai deck myself without Mantra and I don’t think it actually requires a lot of skill, and Mantra will only make it easier.
I know it probably wasnt serious, I just sometimes get tired of jokes like that. Suppose its a pet peeve.
