Hotfix Patch Notes - 1.95.4

Hey Duelyst fans

We have a hotfix for some of the bugs you guys reported last week.

Our first priority was to fix an issue where Trial progress would reset after canceling a multi-click event. With this hotfix, this issue has been fixed!
Since Trials are a keystone to our latest expansion, we wanted to deliver this hotfix as soon as possible while we continue to monitor and address other issues.

While we were looking at other bug reports, we also made some changes to how the system looks at card values.
Cards such as Auroara and Grand Strategos will now proc off of a minions BASE attack value (so Zealed Silverguard Knights and Decorated Enlistees will now count!)

Duelyst Lyonar Grand Strategos

As part of these adjustments, we're also increasing the Trial count for Grand Strategos from "Summon 10" to "Summon 12 minions with 1 or less Attack."

Once again, this hotfix was aimed to quickly address the Trials bug so everyone could get back to playing. We still have more on our list and appreciate everyone's support and patience.

Items still on our list to address:

  • Chain of events causing trial progress
  • Unleash the Evil causing bugged properties
  • Primal Ballast incorrectly progressing the Magmar Trial
    • Fixed! Casting Primal Ballast on the enemy General should no longer progress the Magmar Trial
  • Prongbok movement issues
  • Pandatentiary causing errors

Hey, Thanatos, thanks for these good news!

One thing though: why shouldn’t Primal Ballast progress the Magmar Trial? It’s providing an attack buff after all, so I’m not totally sure I understand what the fix does.

Please keep an eye on our reports

That’s a bit of an arms race we have to proactively speak nothing about.

  1. If we mention it, great, you guys can rest easy
  2. If we mention it, more people than the very few who browse reddit/forums will know about it

Which means its typically safer to talk about details after you’ve addressed them, rather than before. Since these notes are blasted everywhere, notes like this are catching the eyes of the casual players and most of them won’t know what bugs are bugs (or how to abuse them).

It’s much the same in terms of security details; you don’t tell the world when you’re updating since it actively/harmfully works against you.

Ah, I kinda worded that horribly and should have said “Surprised to see no fix for it” but there was so little time from when it was developed to now so it makes sense.

So, Primal Ballast should increase the Magmar Trial, but there is an unintended case where it shouldn’t, and we have to fix that. Thus:

But I’m not going to tell you so you can misuse the bug :upside_down_face:
We can tell you what the bug was after we fix it.

@ThanatosNoa thanks to you or/and the team for notimmediately smashing a heavy nerf on stratty and keeping him playable, do you guys plan on checking out some of the other trials to see if they need a boost after the meta settles? I know why buffs are rare, but is there a case to be made for special 1200 spirit one of cards.

We don’t like proactive/reactively making changes to cards without having seen a stable meta settle (we do prefer having our players find creative solutions to the metas they build) but we aren’t opposed to stepping in when necessary.

So we’re currently on standby and watching.

Ops, sorry! I misread the patch notes and believed those bugs had been fixed! Of course we don’t want to support exploits

Another thing though. You told us that Strategos and Auroara worked in the same way. Now that the behaviour of Strategos has been changed, has also Auroara been changed in the same way or have they now two different behaviours?

Oh, I have a pretty good guess about that…:sirpenti:

Could be wrong, though

So both Auroara and Strategos will look at the base attack of minions now for their procs (meaning Silverguard Knights and Decorated Enlistees will proc them, and Windblade Adept will proc Auroara even if played in Zeal ranged, etc)

I remember seeing that cards that gain attack after spell procs, such as Red Minos, are a bug in regards to the Magmar trial.

I noticed this is not in the list of things being worked on. Can we get an update regarding this?

But here there are only people who browse forums, isn’t it? Could you please answer at least to us if DDoShai issue is on the Devs To do list or not.

Thx.

@ThanatosNoa sorry to bother u again, but for clarification, are you and the team open to buffing cards such as the mythrons? (After the meta settles of course)

dont you know?

cpg only knows how to nerf

the one and only real buff was for the diamond golem
