Help and Advice on my Zir'an Heal deck please?

HI there. I’ve had fun with this deck, it’s a bit inconsistent, and i’m utterly convinced that with a bit of work Zir’an / heal can be totally viable. It should be near unkillable and be able to get total synergy and snowball out of control. Have I got the right curve? I’m languishing in rank 10 this season with this deck. I go on runs and then go on a run of getting smashed up. It’s a bit top heavy on the 4+ mana stuff, but there’s enough value in the 2 mana slots to be useful early and useful late (heal proc). Second Sun is in there to provide threat and get rid of minions.

Deck

-2 suntide maiden
-2 second sun
+2 lightchaser
+2 scintilla
While sunrise maiden and second sun may seem to be better damage wise, they lack on the healing synergies possible with lightchaser and scintilla. Lightchaser gives you useful curve while scintilla heals your gen, gives you a great body for the curve, and (with your BBS) heals your minions ensuring at least two healing profs which works great since you have sunriser and Sunforge lancer. I’d make an argument for adding 2 azure heralds in the place of 3x decimate (leaving you with only one), but I’m not sure how well decimates been working out for you

decimate has been a life saver against lots of horrible situations, and since there’s not much removal in there I steadily added more… I’ve never managed to get any value out of light chaser… I did think about it because of all the healing. Maiden, when I can get it out, works great because it auto heals but it always seems a bit out of reach.

I’ve been playing with Rifters vs Excelsior as he does tend to get dispelled, and possibly Ironcliffe Guardians to keep minions and generals off the Sunrisers

If you’re having problems with card draw in late game then Ritter seems like a solid choice to me. If you treat your sunriser as a mini holy immolation and get some healing price in (multiple in the same turn if you’re lucky) then it should work as intended without needing ironcliffe. Suntide is usually a dud card, especially if you don’t synergize it with any buff spells or healing proc stuff, though I do get the whole strong body with end turn healing proc (useful with lancer). In the end though, it’s YOU who’s playing the deck so add according to your playstyle

I’m currently running a healyonar deck in diamond and I agree with @mmf . I tried running maiden and no luck. I also would get rid of sunriser as to me they run too slow. Light chaser can be really useful for 2 reasons. First you can never have enough 2-drops but mid game they make for potential great tempo plays. I highly recommend also running 3 azule heralds. I’ve had many plays where mid game I’ll play lightchaser 2 heralds and use my bbs. For 5 mana you healed 6 damage for yourself, played 3 bodies and one on of them is a 5-4. If you have a lancer out you also just gave your general plus 3 attack. Oh and scintilla is a must in a healyonar deck. Late game if your opponent has no removal your opponent will not be able to keep up with you healing 3 every turn.

Great advice and you’re all making a whole lot of sense. It’s good to get someone else’s opinion as I’ve been trying to experiment and improve daily but in a vacuum, and potentially not having enough times to play enough games a day to really work out whats working and what would improve it.

I’ve been on a fun little streak in diamond since switching over to healyonar so feel free to send me a friendly and watch my last few replays.

Thanks I will do that

Most people think Ziran is S-tier right now, actually. She’s seen a lot of play in tournaments.

As for your deck, I would ditch Second Sun and Suntide Maiden. Fun cards, but not what you’re looking for. Find Scintilla for sure, double heal procs change everything. Besides that you’re looking pretty good, although you may want to consider Azure Herald and Tempest/Skorn for some AOE and self damage.

After that it comes down to personal preference and play. Repulsor/Decimate is a more unusual removal combo for this deck, but should work fine. I personally don’t like running 3x Sunriser and prefer to toss in a Sun Sister or two, and a third Lancer, but there’s nothing wrong with 3x Sunriser if you like the card and it works. Same with Lightchaser and Excelsious, a lot of people like it but some think it’s trash.

Here’s where i’ve shifted to… 5 game winning streak at the moment

Juuust in case you haven’t seen it before you might want to have a look at the tactica thread I made for Healyonar; it’s out of date now but you might still find some useful ideas in there.

You’ve already been getting good advice, and this is definitely going in a good direction. I’d personally swap the Decimate for a third Scintilla but at that point you’d probably start taking out Repulsor Beasts and I can understand you not wanting to do that. Maybe swap one other thing for that third Scintilla? Have you considered Sky Burial at all? Healyonar benefits from having minions away from your General, so the cheaper and targeted removal might make sense. Good call getting Ruby Rifter in there. As long as you’re happy with your ability to do crowd control without using Lucent Beam, Tempest or Skorn you look pretty prepared to me.

Thanks. I haven’t tried sky burial. The reason I like Deximate so much (and have actually gone with 3 for at the moment) is that it stops range decks and mech. Also it works out nicely to bounce enemies with repulsor and later decimate. Tempest has always hurt me at least as much as it has my opponent in my experience so I’ve drifted away from it. Lightchaser and Scintilla always get removed or killed in my experience but they are solid enough to stay at the moment. It’s end game that I sometimes struggle with. I’m not sure Rifter is enough in end game to finish opponents off.

Meltdown is a pretty good finisher for non-abyss control decks, so that might not be a bad choice if you have it.

I’m currently working with 1x Dark Nemesis and 2x Ruby Rifter

Working pretty nicely now
