I was looking at some of the attempts to keep the community together in some way by creating discords or a new forums but for me personally, I don’t really want to actively participate in that sort of thing if there is no actual content to talk about. But at the same time, I don’t want to completely cut ties with this community and leave it in the past.
So maybe a good idea would be some sort of email subscription service?
You sign up and someone will email everyone signed up of noteworthy news regarding duelyst. Whether it be the revitalization of it by CPG’s hand or a private server. If anything were to ever change where there is a small chance of creating something new rather than draggin a corpse out of its grave, I, for one, would want to be infomed.
You can check the duelyst website but, 1, there is no guarantee it will stay up forever and 2, it is under the control of an organization rather than an independent person meaning what can be conveyed it is limited or can even be used towards more unfavorable ends.
Discord is an option except for those who either don’t use it or don’t want to join the community server purely for camaraderie alone. The forums set up for duelyst immigrants likewise suffer from a similar problem.
Therefore, I believe some sort of newsletter you can subscribe to for duelyst updates would be ideal. The updates would be restricted purely to actual important things that the majority of the playerbase would care to see rather than requests for donations to preserve the game, self seeking advertisements like check out this similar game or my new game/blog/whatever.
The big issue would be finding someone to host this. Someone who can remain relatively impartial enough to abide by these and other guidelines. Someone who keeps themselves up to date with duelsyt related things but does not necessarily have to be someone who is super passionate about the game or anything wild like that. Someone in the community who can be trusted upon to live up to the responsibility, who will remain relatively involved with the diaspora of players bound to pop up elsewhere but hopefully not anyone that has some sort of agenda they could pursue in the carrying out of these duties.
I don’t think it should be anyone from CPG since they most likely have their hands full with godfall and would be remiss in taking part of anything duelyst related in an unofficial capacity for fear of misleading people about duelyst’s future. I am also unsure if those attempting to recreate the game on a private server would be suited for the task. Perhaps a mod on discord?
In any case, there is no clear cut plan in mind, just an idea. Curious what others think about this.
Shortened version: me no like replacement forums or discord and big think if digital tree words would make tribe happy happy.
