Well 1/0 is undefined, so therefore CPG multiplied the cost by an infinitely big number, approximately 10^10^10 to be exact.

Or youknow, added one
in calculus 1/0 (or anything/0) IS defined and it = infinity.
Was trying not to get too deep into that.
Oops, replied to wrong person

No, in calculus 1/0 is still undefined. You can take the limit of some (not all) functions as they approach x/0, but they’re still not defined at that point. Also, the limit of many such functions are indeed NOT infinity, but a real (complex, what have you) number.
Welp I messed up, got too deep into what I wanted to say and people are bringing me calc on my break XD My point was not calc but that the change from 0 to 1 is relatively HUGE for anything.

(snif snif)
Do I smell calculus?
1/0, or anything over zero is not defined as Infinity. In fact, 1/0 is not defined as anything at all! That’s why it’s called undefined. However, say you took the limit of 1/x as x-> 0, then that answer would get infinitely large (if you approach from +infinity) but it is till not infinity. What you should say is that the new cost of Inner focus is Infinitely greater than the old one, but even that is not true.
Inner focus is worth a card, which roughly equates to 0.5 mana. So even then, you would be mathematically correct, but dead-wrong in context of the game. Only in situations where you draw infinitely mana cards per turn but have fixed mana does inner focus cost infinitely more than it did.
Please see the above.

Whether or not 0 -> 1 is an infinite amount is kinda off topic.
The fact is that saying “they increased it infinitely” is misleading and doesn’t capture the actual effect of the change. Hyperbolizing is never a good debate strategy. The actual change is relatively minor and it’s still a really good card, especially when combined with stuff like Juxtoposition to create surprising burst
You’re right. My point is this: I used to be able to summon a scarlet viper and use 3 inner focuses on it on the 6 mana turn. Now I can only do that on the 9 mana turn. A big difference in pace of the game.

This will always be a thing. Always
Way ahead of you bud. #excelciousismywincon
Great, I don’t think anyone wanted scarlet viper plus 3 IF on 6 mana
I do . 15 Characters
The slo nerf feels bad:
People treat it as if it was a minion, IF you could control it the 1/4 provoke would be too strong for 0 mana but it was a battle pet(rip slo, literally no reason to play it now) so it deserves extra stats and not nearly as useful. Now at 1 mana without any buff to stats it just feels underwhelming and understated.
Inner focus nerf:
Even more horrible nerf. Take a faction that got little to no playable cards(not even talking about good cards) in 2 expensions. Has very little removal options when other factions get many new remove or die cards and randomly nerf a core card that somehow kept it still playable despite the draw problems. Feels almost as bad as vetruvian dispell nerf a while back.
Other changes are ok i guess.
Should i start a whine thread to get abbysians and vanar (the ghost thing seems quite broken in vanar, in conjunction with the best removal options in the game it seems too much) nerfed? Seems like enough whining can force a nerf on anything these days…
I will miss Inner Focus at 0, but all the balance changes look appropriate. Looking forward to trying the new cards!
I’m ok with nerfing Slo since he deserves it, Inner Focus didn’t need a nerf. They probably decided to nerf it since Loreweaver bringing two IFs for zero mana could be broken, although I am unsure weather that potentially OPed combo justifies crippling Songhai.
For any arbitrarily small epsilon there exists a delta such that…
Thank you, Counterplay! I love this patch
oh god the kara change, i can already feel it changing a lot of things.
In a glass case of emotion over all this stuff atm. Congrats on the launch!
