Hello right there! (first of all sorry for my English, it isn’t very good but i think that i’ll be able to reach you with my ideas)
I would like to suggest, as a way to expand Duelyst worldwide and be a well regarded game in the videogames community, is translating the game to different languages, and Spanish should be, in my opinion, prioritized, not because i’m from Spain, but because I know how much people speak Spanish, and how many of them play videogames. In latin America, the videogame world is huge, and lots and lots of people like to play them. Furthermore, games like Hearthstone are commonly played in those countries and there are a lot of streamers who play and kids who watch (thinking in long term).
I think that Duelyst is right now a game with a lot of potential and has shown that to us, but i think that what it mainly lacks is diffusion to other countries. See how the tranlation to german has been a positive thing.
What are your thoughts about this?
Duelyst in Spanish (translate it in general)
I would absolutely adore it if such a project was arranged. I can speak fluent Korean, and although there aren’t many Korean players, I’m absolutely willing to do the raw labor for translations just to contribute to the community. (And for free, of course.)
I see the obvious issues with these ideas, as it wouldn’t be entirely wise to leave translations to untrained amateurs. However, given the sheer bulk of video games which localises heir text solely with translation software with no supervision from experts or whatsoever, I don’t think the thought is completely preposterous.
You need to be hired by Namco, otherwise they can’t use your stuff anyways. I don’t think that will happen though.
There were several fan driven translation projects and they all fizzled out.
I wonder about the state of the German translation because @stormshade said back in January it isn’t finished yet. Maybe he can give us some more information. But this is an official one and it takes like forever, seems a bad example for other languages.
You could use a script to mod the display on the card though right?
Did they change that or disallow it?
Like I said there are fan translations and that will work. But it won’t be official.
El español (o castellano) es mi lengua materna y podría ayudar en el proyecto de forma muy, MUY esporádica y casual (por mi horario de trabajo).
Having said that, I’m of the opinion that learning english (even if only at a fundamental level) is the way to go. I can’t imagine going through life without knowing english… EVERYTHING’s in english…
