Devouring Mech OTK; The king takes all

[UPDATE] [There was a misconception around the usage of abhorrent unbirth, and I’ve remade a second list that is much more optimized at the veryyyyyyyyyy bottom, thanks for reading!]

Hey guys! Here to share with you a OTK concept I crossed upon!

abh
Abhorrent unbirth, albeit similar to Deepfire devourer, but an entirely NEW ability.

It devours KEYWORDS, and if you’re looking to chain uninteractive combos together, you’d obviously look for the Rush keyword! But Saberspine Tiger’s been nerfed to 4 mana, making this card a little obsolete.

…not if THIS has to say anything about it.
Introducing the 2 mana Saberspine Tiger. I’ve always been a huge advocate for specific effect triggers, which peaks in effectiveness when theory crafted properly. As such, we’d need cheap mech minions don’t we? We’re in luck, because the Neutral card pile has always delivered in giving unintentional support to card combos.

Take the deck thinner, card engine, swarm-synergistic mech minion; Replicant! When I saw this card on reveal, I knew it wouldn’t stand out, but it had the potential to synergy extremely well with mech-based combo decks.

Initially, I made this with a full mech deck with Cassyva for the ping removals, but I found the minions to be extremely weak, which gave way to Lilithe who had more sustain, swarming capabilities, and hand refills by using both inkling surges and spheres of darkness.

Important things to note as usual, as with my Blood Faice deck. Although you don’t need to practise health control with this deck, you need to always pull ahead of tempo, maintain a board, and keep a mech in hand.
Never replace abhorrent until you’ve gotten at least 1 in your hand.

Card draw is plenty in this deck, but try to roll for spelljammers because you’ll be really burning through the cheap minions early game.

Here are some screenshots of what I’ve pulled off.

If you wanna know how your lethals look like, this is sort of a quiz on how to execute them (let me know in the comments if you solved this~) Hint: exact lethal

Alternatively, here I could do 16 damage.

This was a result of consuming the bloodfire totems this Sajj had given me. Not only clearing off all the damage that was close to 6 a turn, it stacked the health as well (although I’d prefer not to leave the opponent alive and with an opening after using the combo)

As she did not clear it without enough resources to dig for removals,

This was an earlier version of the deck with Cassyva, and this abomination took in a full Mechaz0r.

Another one as I was playtesting Cassyva’s limits. It absorbed a 10/10 Juggernaut among other small minions.

Some clarifications made by @masterhuehue after looking through his replay, I found that the Abhorrent Unbirth spell actually takes the text keywords out LITERALLY. As a result, the only key cards are Abhorrent and metaltooth (works independently without a second mech!) This means mech cards that are generally not as powerful as the other swarm cards like crypto and zyx can be taken out instead. This is the revised version that ensures you have a good board for the token to absorb!

IN CLOSING, STOP PLAYING AGGRO DECKS YOU LITTLE SHITS!

I love that I’m not the only one that had this idea. I’ve been doing my own variant of this, using Gate to the Undervault as my source of damage. Of course Metaltooth is in it to give rush. You don’t see it in this picture because he was sacrificed to the Unbirth, but that Abomination has Rush.

but its so hard to build gate cause everyone goes for it D:

slightly slower in tempo. You could go for it, but I prefer a burst heal

Something I need to test:
I wonder if the new 5 cost artifact that gives your minions +2 atk and frenzy adds (forgot its name) adds the attack bonus to the final abomination. I bet it does. This could be an easy way to add value to your abomination with mana from a previous turn, if you can get the artifact to stick for more than the first turn you play it.

…Not to rain on your parade too hard, but if you get the Hellgate open, you don’t need to build an abomination. At that point you’d be better off just running cards that keep your general alive until the enemy gets completely destoyed by the unstemmable tide of demons. I guess if you want to try and pursue demons and abominations as two separate win conditions in the same deck, you can, but a Hellgate into an abomination is mostly just winning a won game.

So if the specific reason you’ve got those Undervault gates or whatever in your deck is to make huge abominations, you’d be better off taking them out. That’s my take on it.

all i can think of when i see this is “your one mana off from double rush abberations”

just think of it

you rush mech into unbirth
hit face
then unbirth again for more rush

Do you have budget replacements for Spelljammer?

Spelljammer is an incredible card with no true replacement. I would recommend trying new draw in the form of Vellumscry or Nekomata (although Neko is an epic).

I plan to try my own version of this deck soon, im just a few spirit away from 3 Abhorrent. I don’t like the lack of Lures in this deck, and I have a couple other personal gripes but I’m eager to test it myself.
