Daemonic Lure effect order

It’s so not a big deal, and Abyssian doesn’t really need the help, but I really wish the card text was “Teleport an enemy minion to any space on the battlefield and then deal one damage to it”, instead of “Deal 1 damage to an enemy minion and teleport it to any space on the battlefield”.

It just feels like Daemonic Lure ought to be an answer to Snow Chaser, it ought to let you get an enemy minion down to 1 health and then cast Grasp of Agony on it and the blow it up next to a cluster of ranged minions. When I first saw the card I thought that was what it was for and it’s just slightly disappointing every time it doesn’t work that way.

i completely and totally agree with this, but abyssian is already pretty strong right now, you sure you wanna buff it?

Put it this way. Abyssian is one of the biggest success stories in terms of in faction synergies between mechanics and minions. I don’t think their spells need that much powerful synergy. Imagine a 3 Mana, 2 Card combo that is a 3 damage Immolation where you choose.

Yea that thought makes me wanna kick myself in the butt and concede

it might be extremely op yes and i don’t want that.

it’s just, it seems like it was how things are supposed to be, it seems like demonic lures should work that way.

Its just a bit inconsistent.
If you lure a 1 health young silithar, it will die before teleporting and spawn an egg on the same space. but if you lure taygete it will teleport, then deal 1 damage to taygete trigger her effect on the new space.

I think the teleport and the 1 damage resolve at the same “time” in the ordering.

maybe effects like taygete’s actives after the daemonic lure’s attivation ends

So it makes the slithar die and leave a non-teleported egg as it’s right.

But Nimbus spawns the Obelysk, then teleports so I think it’s a one damage then move thing.

what did i say about it being inconsistent!!

It needs an errata! Also I think that was aimed at @edward4244. Might’ve pressed the wrong button.

I personally don’t have a problem with Deamonic Lure as I’ve always seen it as a soft removal first and ping second. Even if it didn’t ping I’d still probably put it in my decks simply because being able to negate enemy minions by tossing them into a corner is more useful than the one damage ping. There already tons of things that can ping but only so many spells that actually move minions around. Similar to Songhai and Vanar. Lyonar’s movement spell is lack luster because it immediately puts your General in danger unless you have artifacts to soak up the hit.

Yes, it needs an errata if taygete and nimbus behave differently

Ba dum tss

Er…ehm…yes, you understood that.

They even have the same in-game card text: When this minion takes damage, do X

But have different effect orders.

If it didn’t ping at all then I’d still play it - because it could then be used to move 1 health minions, which would, in some cases, be more useful.

I just used Daemonic Lure on a Nimbus and it spawned the Obelysk where the Nimbus landed, not where it started.

When I tried it, it was a few patches ago, so they may have standardized it since then. Still funny how chains resolve in this game, i.e. the effect that takes precedence is the effect who’s turn it is. LOL CPG FIX YERR GAME!

P.S.

Someone needs to have Yugi complaining about how Duelyst rules don’t make sense either.
