Boss Battle - Rin the Shadowsworn

Boss Battle - Rin the Shadowsworn

This accursed tome cannot be read but instead the power locked inside bleeds from the pages as the wielders own twisted soul is laid bare. These dark creatures hunger for the very same power as the one who holds the book, and when sated become nightmares.

Rin is ready and waiting for the arrival of another lost soul to feed to her grimoire.

Enter her domain and be greeted by a Gloomchaser, Wraithling, and Rin wielding a Spectral Blade.

"Wraithlings!? What's a bunch of little guys going to do to me?"

Try not to stall this into a war of attrition; Rin is ready to swarm the board with menacing bodies.

For every point of damage she takes, she'll summon a Wraithling - and all of her minions can grow.

Left unchecked, this shadow will consume everything in its path.

"Kill it before it breeds. Got it. But why am I doing this again?"

Beat this boss and you'll earn a free Core Spirit Orb. In addition to this, you'll also earn a Boss Crate, which can be opened with a key purchased from the shop for 500 Diamonds. Each Orb contains a collection of items sure to enhance your Duelyst experience!

Another old familiar looking boss!

My Gigaloth Grow deck outgrowed Rin

No kidding! Although, having Thunderhorn is enough to make this boss battle trivial

Could make yourself a challenge by seeing what is the cheapest deck you can make to beat the boss and without using Thunderhorn within the deck.

A deck that uses shadow watcher.

Just swing for 40. Duh.

We all know that card is broken anyways.

People have beaten bosses with Basic Decks (you know, the ones you can’t alter?)

Not saying you can do this for all bosses, but we don’t want there to be an ‘entry fee’ to play Bosses

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know, but it was a suggestion for older players who may have found it too easy just by having Thunderhorn or using more expensive decks. If something is too easy to beat through 1 card or strategy, then is it really fun to play against?

Maybe for some people it is fun, but for others it might not be. The vast majority of boss battles I can beat using 1 deck. Sometimes using that deck is fun for a boss battle, other times its just boring.

However, maybe there could be a boss battles in the future where you have to use a pre-made (or pre-determined) deck so there doesn’t have to be an ‘entry fee’ for any player. So it comes down more to game knowledge/skill/luck to beat it. Or possibly even have a rift mode theme boss battle where you draft cards from across different factions for it.

easiest boss, i suggest her having a secondary “surprise form” when she reaches 20 health or under, summoning like furious 5/5 wraithlings on all corners

Still too weak. I would give the Boss gradually increasing Growth on the minions.

Rin is obviously a little dummy since she couldn’t comprehent what Lavastorm Obelysk does and kept summoning minions on it’s row. Was a fun battle.

The fight itself was not hard, but a boss named Rin that summons little demons triggers gaming memories that I would very much like to suppress.

Took an OTK deck

Tempest carried the match for me.

Yeah this boss shows that the AI has still some way to go to handle grow minoins. If a real player had piloted the game against epicflygons OTK Vaath our dear fly would have been smashed by the swarm. Just funny to see 10+ damage running away from him.

The final state before my victory:

I was having lots of fun with Stygian Observer today on the ladder, so I decided to take her into the boss battle and see how much fun I can have with her…

Needs more Breath of the unborn to fully heal the big minions if damaged!
