I wasnt sure if the thread was coming up or not so i posted one up earlier, sorry for the confusion lol. anyways…

the boss Automaton 8 is an excellent concept and the 3/60 seem quite intimidating. However there is a way to beat this boss that you might overlook after you first encounter with him. He has ranged and the capability of striking all enemies surrounding his initial target across the map, however this is his weakness as well. If anyone has a strategy feel free to add it in this thread as well as any feedback you might have on the boss! Good luck everyone and I hope you find this boss as exciting as I did.

Abyssian- using swarm deckbuilds you can surround yourself with wraithling, anytime he strikes your general he is dealing 3 damage to himself as well as an extra +3 for every minion that is damaged by his attack, ultimately playing variax will keep you alive and the swarm will take him down as long as you keep his larger minions at bay.

Lyonar- airdrop ironcliffe in the enemy generals face, divine bond it, rinse and repeat, use peacekeeper as well as excelsius or grandmaster zir.

songhai- use battle panddo to take away his artifacts or artifact defiler if necessary. High stat golems can work well with kaleos if you can bbs them up into the generals face.

magmar- keep ragebinders on hand for healing, lavaslasher is good for taking out his golems that get too close, ultimately dont keep your weak minions close.

Here is a video of me tackling the boss for the first time, hope this helps anyone who is struggling to beat him.

ah, sorry I misunderstood your topic.

will delete sorry about that.

easiest boss by far beat him first time with an infiltrate/wall vanar deck that i’d been using to meme on ladder

Gravity Well is literally a 2 mana deal 12 damage face

One of the few, maybe only, I beat on the first try (had 2 hp remaining though), the reskin is cool, the boss 3/60 is intimidating on first sight, and the golems is thematic.

The range I felt wasn’t thematic though. I feel that a giant EMP hulk-smashing things with this big beefiness woulda been more thematic. The range was good, fair, and a bit surprising, just not thematic, that’s all.

The AI performed as sensible as I saw, but I was doing a bizarre spellhai deck.

Good boss. Safe design and fight. EMP must not have had any removal because I was able to MDS a double KE katara, (only got 1 hit in though sadly).

Actually, last bit. I am actually quite happy in realizing that the pacing of his cards was relatively equal to mine. Big props on that. Seriously, good job on that; I personally think that adds an emotional state of balance and fairness for players (bearing lower budgeted decks and newer players in mind).

Sure it’s thematic if you know the inspiration

Thematic to origin doesn’t necessarily translate to thematic of tribe. Wasn’t aware of where the design came from though, so thanks

When I read the description of the boss, I thought it would have 2 or 3 forms, with Dying Wish effects triggering each transformation.

Nevertheless, an interesting design for a boss. Seems like Swarm is just as effective as ever against these bosses. But I like how the boss takes the idea of choosing between preserving board or pushing damage to the next level.

(Also fitting that the boss that looks like EMP uses the most non-effect minions)

Very fun boss, it’s interesting to know that you’re on a timer just as much as he is. It never felt too overpowered, but still posed a challenge to beat.

I like it!

Pretty easy boss but still fun tho. Beated him with variax/swarm deck just by summoning minions and running away from his minions

Seems like the AI prioritizes highest atk minions that can be one-shotted at. However I found 3 major flaws on a run

  1. The AI places Bond minions behind and never move them forward.
  2. General sits on shadow creep, even though no threat was nearby.
  3. Zeal minions not nearby general. Well, this is technically overlooked because the general has permanent ranged keyword, however Sol Pontiff looks like a weak play for him.

He doesn’t understand zeal, and he cannot use boulder breacher correctly. He hits things with minions before he summons boulder breacher, but it’s good that he does that otherwise this would be impossible

Hey that’s a pretty decent AI … I mean, … I’ve met human players doing that

I liked the boss. He was suicidal but in a big “I will destroy everything even it kills me!” way. That was fun

I think juggernaut ought to be banned for boss battles. It’s won the battles singlehandedly every time on the first try.

At least it gives an opportunity for everyone struggling with a Boss Battle, they know they “just” have to play Juggernaut as a guaranteed victory

The boss itself is kinda like AoE.

I went the whole “drop an ironcliffe in face” route. Followed that up with holy immos and healing.
