The only real change you should do is having 3 copies over having single copy of cards just for deck consistency.

Besides from that, don’t bother buying or crafting cards from Shim’zar since that is the only set that is rotating out. Some cards from the core set are being removed or added in (https://duelyst.com/news/set-and-rotation-changes) and you can see the changes within the link.

If you are in no rush then you can always save up your spirit/gold until you see more of what other players have done in the new expansion, since on the forums people will be sharing decks they have made and you’ll have a better look at what the possibilities of the new meta might be.

Got it, I only buy Core orbs anyway

Look at these only basic cards decks and take them as an inspiration: https://imgur.com/a/E6Lq5

A bit off topic, but we need more decks with Nosh-Rak.

I have been doing a lot of very serious laddering with budget vetruvian decks so you can ask me a lot.

but too many 1 ofs and heavy curve, not running 9x early plays is a mistake.

alternatively, you can use that 1-off neutral mythron card and get MAXIMUM VALUE AAAYE

solid cards in your deck that you could include 3 copies of are dunecaster, ethereal obelysk, fireblaze obelysk, skyppy, sandswirl reader, aymara healer, bone swarm, scion’s second wish, blood of air, star’s fury. not that you should have 3x of all of those but if you pick some of those that you like you won’t be going wrong with including 3 copies. the more expensive ones you may want to hold off on crafting a bunch of before rotation though. another card you should have that is very powerful is scion’s first wish.

cards in your deck that you won’t be able to use on the standard ladder once the expansion comes out are pax, falcius, and astral flood. other cards that I would say are definitely safe to cut are wood-wen, mirage master, fire spitter, diamond golem & drybone golem, blindscorch, autarch’s gifts, and astral phasing. hopefully that gives you something to start with.

Another great deck you can try out is Golem Vetruvian. They aren’t as powerful as Obelysks, but then again, nothing’s as powerful as Obelysks. If you’re in the mood for something new and spicy, go Golem. Falcius is rotating out, so you’ll need to find a replacement for him.

First of all 3/10 deck, good for getting you out of bronze but you will be destroyed if you try to advance further in silver. That being said, you do have some sense in that you’ve gone ahead and managed to get ahold of blood of air and sandswirl reader which are currently vetruvian’s best board control pair.

As for how I’d improve it, I’d say ditch the lategame big minion strategy you seem to be going with, there are too many cards that counter that playstyle and I’d get tired fingers just trying to explain them. Instead focus on specific parts of your deck that you want to expand upon. I see that you have the beginnings of an obelisk deck in place so work on that. Add in more cards that give bonuses to dervishes rather than ones that work as “decent” cards by themselves so get in cards like dunecaster, scion’s first wish, and other cards that will help either keep your dervishes alive or increase their damage output.

Well, that’s it for now. Until then, keep working on your playstyle to find what suites you best and take a look at this:

https://forums.duelyst.com/t/core-set-and-rotation-changes/12098?u=mmf

It has the notes on what’s being taken out of ranked play so read it carefully.

GLHF!

Hi @iamkoromon, welcome to Duelyst and the Duelyst forum. Pull up a seat and enjoy your stay.

Warning: Massive wall of text incoming. I do this sometimes.

As far as ranking your current deck, besides having like twenty cards you only have one copy of (which means no deck consistency), and no cards you have three copies of (ditto), you’re running a lot of bad cards. Pyromancer dies too easy to be good, fire spitter has awful stats for cost and almost always gets answered, starfire scarab isn’t as good as it looks, diamond golem and drybone golem are bad, and Grandmaster Nosh-Rak isn’t all that either.

As far as spells, most of what you’ve got is meh. Looks good, but doesn’t do enough. Scion’s second wish and stars’ fury are pretty decent, and blood of air is amazing.

Pretending I don’t know what cards you like or own, here’s something I threw together that doesn’t cost too much spirit to craft.

Try crafting and running this. It’s pretty cheap, all the cards in it are worth owning, and it’s fairly functional. A lot of it’s cards are neutral so you can reuse them in other decks.

It’s got nine minions you can play on your two-mana turn if you start as player one, meaning that with your opening hand of five cards, the ability to replace two of them, and one more card you can replace on your actual turn, you’ve got statistically really good odds of getting a minion you can play right away, which is important. If you walk two forward and place it diagonally forward and up or forward and down, you’re set up to grab an extra mana on your second turn, which is never a bad thing. Six of these nine minions can also heal your general.

Skyppies and wild tahrs are really good three-mana minions. Skyppies refill your hand when they die so they keep you from running out of cards, and if you don’t like the artifact they give you just replace it and get some other card out of your deck. Wild tahrs are just a pain for your opponent to deal with, they’ll end up using good removal cards to get rid of them a lot of the time, meaning they’ll have less removal for your bigger stuff later.

Capricious marauders have a horrible downside which basically means you can’t summon them until after your opponent has killed everything else you own. That being said, they’re the most statistically huge minion for their mana cost in the entire game. If the other guy is out of answers, they’re in for a bad time.

Dancing blades have an excellent effect. It takes some getting used to, you’ll screw it up a few times. Just remember to keep track of which way your guys are facing, the blades only ever hit in front of them. Besides their killing effect, they’re statistically pretty strong.

Sandswirl readers get problems out of your way so you can punch things you want to punch. Just don’t use them to send enemy minions with opening gambits or anything like that back to the opponent’s hand. The sand they leave behind is also a problem for the opponent.

EMP’s are the big one. They’re an answer to tons of problems and a huge threat combined into a single card. They won’t save you from everything, but they’re definitely strong.

Scion’s first wish draws you a replacement card and thins out your deck (a good thing) while buffing one of your minions, for dirt cheap. Vetruvian decks basically must run all three, it’s too good to skip for any reason.

Bone swarm is a really good way to deal with the Songhai general Reva, the Abyssian general Lilithe, and the Magmar general Ragnora, who love summoning things next to them that you want to make die but don’t want to spend a lot of mana on. It’s a decently useful spell in general that really shines in certain situations. It’s also a way to finish off an almost-dead general you can’t reach.

Scion’s second wish is a power buff that you generally stick on a weak-to-medium-minion right before they punch the enemy general’s face, but can also be used to let a minion kill an enemy and survive the fight, or just kill an enemy at all.

Blood of air is more or less like Scion’s first wish in that you should run all three in every Vetruvian deck you make. It cleanly deals with almost any single threat in the entire game, and the wind dervish you get out of it can do all sorts of neat stuff, like kill a weak second minion. Or a weak general.

If you don’t like what I’ve got here, feel free to build whatever, maybe something with lots of obelysks or something. No matter what I’d craft dancing blades and EMP’s. They’re really strong neutral minions and you can shove three of each into any newbie-level deck and make it better, more or less.

That deck is too expensive for someone who just started a week ago. And Falcius gets rotated.

I would not recommend crafting Siroccos as a new player because they are only usable in this deck type.
