Actually, the Astaries (Space Marines) are significantly larger than the average human, the armor might add an extra foot or so, but they somewhat dwarf other humans.

-cough- Chapter 7 says that the Inxikrah males turned into monsters and became malevolent- a trait the Inxikree females did not share- and as time grew on their only compatibility became for reproduction… before Atar Starstrider or Starhorn were ever mentioned (waaay before Lillithe and Cassyva). Considering that they rapidly evolve, and there are seemingly male Inxikree (Arcane Devourer, Blood Siren) as opposed to become completely possessed with their transformations into predators (Spectral Revenant, Vorpal Reaver)
Just saying, you become two separately rapidly adaptive species- and you’re afraid that mating rituals for offspring are likely to end in torture and death. What is a species of female adaptable subterranean predators to do… but the amphibean thing?

Eh, it would just mean they reproduce by parthenogenesis. Besides, they evolved from reptiles so it’s entirely possible.
Which means they are all females that reproduce by “cloning”.
I also assume AD is a female and Blood Siren is obviously one too. AND, it’s mentionned in Kelaino’s lore they are a tribe of females. They’re all females, all of them!

This is all under the assumption that they obey our concepts of male and female roles. It’s entirely possible that they are neither and both at the same time. IE, the reason they appear as androgynous succubi/incubi is that the females developed breeding habits that made their male counterparts no longer capable of controlling their reproductive habits. Male and female simply describe sexual dimorphism, and it’s entirely conceivable that Inxikree develop both sets of gonadamedes based on the tribe’s need for that particular season, and the male offspring are just sortof ritualistically sent into the world to become things like Spectral Revenants if they survive.
The whole Variax having male genetalia thing might just be some forum goers having an overactive imagination about what a species that utilizes hermaphrodite members actually do to provide both sets of dimorphic cells to produce offspring.
