I wonder if anyone ever figured out what are the initial starting decks for each faction for a completely new player. As in, which minions and spells are in them.

All of them are total garbage…i suggest you to check out budget lists
Keep in mind that those lists are abseloute budget…there are some epics/legendarys which you should realy try to get as they are used in most decks of the faction:
Lyonar:holy immolation,trinity ooath(both are extremely essensial to all lyonar decks except titan(no spell variant))
Vanar.malicious wisp(best card in the faction and autoinclude in every vanardeck)
Vetruvian:cataclysmic fault,khanuum-ka
Magmar:makantor warbeast,lavaslasher(makantor is so good that literally every magmar list uses it,lavaslasher is also used by most magmar lists)
Songhai:has the most diverse decks so there are no staples which you put in 80% of all songhai decks.For them you must first choose which kind of songhaiyou want to play
Abyssian:they are very weak right now and tend to be quite expensive.I wouldn,t suggest you to use them.
You shouldn,t use many 2offs and 1offs…most of the time you should add 3copys of all your cards into your deck to increase consistency.
Start with core orbs…they have the best droprate for high rarity cards and therefore give you most spirit while also containing many staples

Keep in mind that the power ranking does not contain all viable decks or the definitive version of a certain archetype,just what most good players perceive as the best archetypes with solid versions of these archetypes.

Swarm is the best New player archetype as it can easily win with the most basic of wincons
Im mainly talking about diamond+ if i refer to viability and abyssian beeing weak
Ofcource in lower division where players don,t run removal or aoe and run right into your swarm abyssian is good.But i don,t think you should work towards something as a new player that relys on your opponents low skill,especialy not if that archetype falls on its face once you hit higher divisions

Thanks for the advice, although since I have been playing the game ever since the first expansion, I do think your advice is a little bit wasted on me. I was just wondering what were the starter decks.
Looking back at the decks, I was a bit surprised about the consistency of the starter decks (quite a few one-of-a-kind minions in them) and the minion choices (Necroseer would not be my first pick for a Lyonar Deck). I wonder what are some justifications for the design choices the developers have back in the day.

I guess these starter decks are there since the very beginning like closed beta or maybe even alpha. The game could be completely different back then.

oh yeah, I forgot about that thing, as for starter decks I doubt I could get higher than gold with them tbh, they are not very good
