Black locust works great with songhai. Inner focus lets you get immediate value from it. Onyx jaguar makes them 3/3 so it now survives most aoe spells.

It could be but the nine tailed fox is part of classic japanese folklore. Not Naruto specifically.
Same goes for this, Amaterasu is a famous Japanese deity. Not Okami.
But, hey, maybe they were intended to be references to what you mentionned.

I know that there are more far-reaching references, but the sprites themselves look like the deceptions in these pieces of media (white fox with red marks and hunched over thing with many tails respectively)
