Underrated cards, and what decks you can put them in

Basically, this topic is for all the underrated cards in the game, and how you can make those cards viable (no, splashing in your underrated card in a meta deck doesn’t make it viable). Also a general meme thread (which we have a lot of in this stale meta). Hope this thread manages to stick around for a while with a lot of new additions, new meme decks, and slightly changing the meta away from the rock-paper-scissors we have here.

RELENTLESS DINOS

Underrated Cards: Angered Okkadok, Fractal Replication, Mandrake

For those of you who don’t know what Fractal Replication does, its a spell that allows you to choose a friendly minion, and you summon 2 copies of that minion on chosen spaces. Fractal Replication keeps buffs, and activates Bonds, etc.

What really makes this deck perfect is all of its moving parts are synergistic with each other, and really can pack a punch.

Combos

Mirrorim + Everything + Magmar Draw

Fractal Replication + Okkadok: For those who don’t know, this summons Okkadoks that not only get further intensified, but they keep the Buffs of the original one!

EX: Fractal Replication on an intensified +2/+2 Okkadok will create a 6/7 and a 7/8 along with its 3/4.

Fractal Replication + 0 Cost Mandrake is a HUGE tempo swing for 6 mana, has won me a lot of games.

Fractal Replication + Ragebinder = Restores 6 hp to General

With the low amounts of AOE in current meta, decks have a tendency to split against the huge bodies that this deck spits out.

Deck also has a positive win-rate in Diamond, so not only is it a meme, but it wins games too.

I wouldn’t say Rawr is underrated because battlepets are usually bad. But Rawr can be used to a decent degree in Magmar. I made my own Battlepet deck for the Meltdown League a few weeks back. Since Rawr summons more minions whenever it takes damage it can have synergy with things in Magmar such as Flash and Kujata which help ramp it out. Other cards that do damage to Rawr like Krater, Skorn and Rebuke also have uses as 1 damage pings or AoE removal while also triggering Rawr’s effect.

Also made an Infest deck which I talked more about it here (Miguel's Abyss deck and discussion space). But basically, I put it in a deck where you can abuse movement/placement of enemy minions with your own cards and setup advantageous positions when you can remove opponent’s minions but still deal damage to your opponent’s general.

Hmmm Rawr. Never really thought of using that card (mainly because I only have 1)

Will edit this post with a Rawr Ping deck when I get more.

Rook would be so much better if

A.) The ability (ies) were an opening gambit/start of turn trigger

Or

B.) The abilities were tied to each faction (and were available upon summoning rook)

While it has the drawbacks of being Songhai, and anything Songhai not-burn or not-ranged being sad, Rawr can be a fun choice with the fire guys when you combo it with Crimson Coil (ping it, summon a pet, activate it so he can rush in for more damage and summons).

Wouldn’t recommend making the deck, unless you happen to have the cards and just want to have a bit of fun. Its possible to win with the card, I had a 10 game win streak with my battlepet deck but that was in Silver. Since in Silver, almost any well built deck, even if it is a bad deck in reality, can win games there.

Haven’t tried it in Songhai, but I think Magmar is a better place simply because of ramp. Can go turn 1 as player 2, Flash Rawr. Gives you a 3/5 Rawr and a random token battlepet, which most are pretty good early. Before the opponent drops a Thunderhorn and kills the board.

Mindlathe should be at least 2 of in every Abyssian deck. It is that good.

Pantheran is underrated. He is absolutely viable after the buff but nobody plays him, poor guy

… Do you play him?

Of course! I wouldn’t recommend something so highly if I never played it with success :grinning:

You mean pantheriquarian or pantheran alone? I want to give the first one a shot when i have the spirit

Panthereliquarian is OK but a bit slow these days. I still use Reliquarian as a 1 of for those special occasions, but generally with a few exceptions a 0 mana 8/8 will do you more good on the board than in your hand.

mmm I thought that reliquarian was used not as combo but as finisher, while you already have the kitty on board. It seem a waste to keep in your hand just to combo it  but then again guess i should play it to have a better idea of it.

You have no idea of the crazy combo potential a good Reliquarian can bring in the right deck and i adore Vespyrquarian for this reason. Having a well set Howling Relic with an Elemental in the background can often mean free pass to bash face without ever having to trade on other mobs.

Besides Lyonar and Songhai, Reliquarian is a nice tool for pretty much everyone.

Upvoted for name.

Probably not underrated anymore, but Tigress. She’s a god tempo play on top of a backline threat not easily dealt with.

Works best in:
-faie
-wanderer kara
-wanderer in general
-argeon
-titan
-hatefurnace, burnhorn

Samples not where tigress isn’t regularly seen:
