I’ll try and think of a better way to describe it later (since it is like 5am). But basically, a lot of the assets, UI, levelling mechanics etc, are the same or very similar to games that I’ve played before on Facebook years ago. Its like profit maximising within the gaming industry, but with minimal thought about using/having quality throughout the game. For example the font for the text used in the story/tutorial when going through the story elements, it doesn’t like good, but not only that it looks like it was almost randomly placed on screen. Instead of purposely place. I could almost believe that the developers know that stuff also doesn’t look good as well, since all the screenshots/video of the game on steam for the store page basically avoids all of that. Its all either gameplay stuff or fullscreen card art, except for one screenshot which is the deck building page I believe. Another example would be the UI menu buttons, which look to me that they don’t belong or don’t look right for the game.
I’ve played other card games on Facebook before where the card art/gameplay/game design is decent, but everything else has almost been forgotten about and could be like default assets that have been used or looks out of place to the rest of the game. Which kinda gives it a cheap or crappy feel to the game, to an otherwise decent game.
Edit: To expand further on what I said, now its not 5am.
Or I was going to, but then the more I read it back what I was writing, the more it justs looks like me having a rant. Like the game having 3 different system loops including a like system but renamed as “Maat” in-game, to keep people playing the game, despite the fact that at least 2 of those systems don’t really make sense to have within the game.
