Miguel's Abyss deck and discussion space

Yep, I was going to use EMP as well for removal and fun synergy with the Releaser. I’ll be testing my own version soon

Played 3 games, not really convinced. The power of other late game win cons is just too much sadly. Also for two games I didn’t draw my DFS in time which hurts the decktype a lot.

This thread is bumped and will probably just be bumped again in three turns!

It doesn’t run Mirkblood, but you may be interested in DeathsAdvocate’s Intensify Aggro Cass:

There’s also this all-in combo list which I think is also DA’s but which I couldn’t locate in his thread:

Good times for sure, although I do not really see where mirkblood fits in.

I do not recognize that second list, but I have certainly made a bunch of Cadence and or Reanimator shells that are floating around. Closest on my current thread would be likely Lili-Incorprated:

There were also a few closer to that list that were just some silly fun time for the stream that never got published. The rest of em are pretty old and we would have to jump back to Rotations or Previous expansions to find them.

I can’t remember who originally made it but I play against @terrarius in a friendly match who played it, so he might know/remember. I believe the deck list was posted in here somewhere between october-december last year.

The deck originated from @vbcfbhc if memory serves right.

Instead of Mirkblood, running DFC (with Lili) might be dope as a secondary wincon (and ofc works on other minions besides Bonecrusher too).

Good to see you posting here.

Did you ever make more progress on that ban list projject you started?

It sort of stalled and faltered when Hacker said he would not use it. I was also having trouble getting people to vote on things. You were around for all of it I think. Nothing new since as I largely gave up and moved onto other things.

I still lurk on the forums, hopefully wait for a balance patch, and or for people to suddenly get active and vote on the Duelyst Ban List discord.

This is the abyss deck I’m rocking with rn pretty decent win rate in low silver and evry loss has been super close.

Except for the lack of AoE the deck looks pretty fun!

Sphere of darkness is kinda meh, as consuming rebirth also is. I’d try to squeeze some Night Fiends and/or Purple Unicorns here for some crowd control. Earlygame is also not your strongest point here, I’d add more Oozes at least.

Cheers!

OH, it was you!
I hugely misclicked my Flawless Reflection.
You have a fun deck indeed! It was a good game

Now I want to know more on that misclick, especially seeing this deck

I wanted to get rid of a Desolator, and ended up giving him way too many.

Wait that was you :joy: I had no idea. It was a good game you had me really scared with those Silvers.

Here I am again asking for comments on a deck. This time it’s an almost finished one. Fun, but - I strongly suspect - not competitive. I’m currently in gold and even there it’s like 50/50.

Idea is to build up Wraithling, and that’s it. Cards I’m unsure about are Grimwar, Baronette & Fury, I still can’t figure out how useful they are. Inkling Surge was replaced by Vellum and I guess I should replace that with Spelljammer, for better mid-game. Reaver was replaced for better support, and I never played him for the short time he was in.

There’s a lot of stuff going on here. I would suggest refining things a little more and choosing one thing to focus on.

To start, some of these cards are too slow for a good swarm deck: Vellumscry, Mirkblood Devourer, and arguably Ritual Banishing. You want faster effects like Inkling Surge or Dreamgazer for card advantage (or I guess Spelljammer if you want to take things a little slower), Soulshatter Pact for pump, and if you feel you need it, Void Steal for “removal”.

Beyond that: I assume you’re aware of and don’t just want a typical hyperswarm list, but that would be the most competitive option. Go down most of the slower artifacts, add better finishers like Deathfire Crescendo, and include more swarm generation like Gloomchaser. Here’s the last list I could find from Seedy, who was the master of the archetype, but you can easily find more variations on this strategy (say, on Duelspot).

If you really like the artifacts, a while back JosephStalin put out an anti-Wanderer Artifact Swarm list (his whole post on anti-Wanderer decks is a good read). It plays a slightly slower gameplan and focuses on inevitability against decks that have trouble pinging off your artifacts.

Finally, if you want to meme and like going tall rather than wide, earlier in this thread Alplod made a post about Wraithling Buff swarm. It’s janky, but good for a laugh when your opponent manages to clear almost your whole board and you OTK them with the one remaining Wraithling.
