Is anyone else locked out of their account? [Solved, Workaround Inside]

I can’t access my Duelyst account.

I lost my account password and the BNAE automated system can’t help me because the support pages don’t exist for the EU version of their website so I keep getting redirected home. The mods here can’t/won’t help me and I haven’t gotten a response from BN so far. Is anyone else experiencing something like this?

Essentially when I linked my Duelyst account the system created an EU account for me, which is unsupported. When I use the ‘forgot password?’ recovery option I can’t access the proper page because I’m in the EU, so the website redirects me home. So I don’t have a BNAE account I can access because it seemingly both does and doesn’t exist and I can’t get help from the Duelyst side of things because of legal reasons.

Can I get a volunteer in the US to PM me so I can give them my email address and they can request a password reset for me (or advice on how to access the .com instead of the .eu version of BN’s site)? I don’t know how long Bandai Namco will take before they decide to help me so I thought I’d try to take matters into my own hands. If I can get into my account again maybe I can get the link sorted properly, and at least play the game.

Have you tried using VPN so you don’t get redirected-desu?

I have the same problem with redirecting. Fortunately I have no account problems. If I had I would have no chance to log in.
You could use a proxy server from within the States I think.
But - really: The account linking thing is absolutely s… a mess!

Indeed it is. I ended up with all of my three accounts not using the email adress I want - all three of them. And it isn't possible to switch the email adress of a BN-account it seems. It is my understanding that VPN subscriptions cost money and I don’t use or need a VPN otherwise. Am I misinformed?

I’ve been contacted by BN and both their supplied recovery methods have been failing so far. So a warning to everyone in the EU: DON’T DARE LOSE YOUR PASSWORD, you might not be able to play Duelyst again. Will keep you posted if a workaround turns out to be available.

There are some free VPNs, at least free trial ones like Tunnelbear.

I was worrying and asking here exactly about that even, before the expansion launch, and now CPG told us BN-USA and BN-Europe are totally different organisations, I’m still worrying

Day 5 of my lock-out and support hasn’t responded again, having someone request a recovery hasn’t worked either. It appears someone at BN needs to manually create the EU support pages before I can play Duelyst again.

Just fatigued at this point.

Update: BN’s let me know they’re talking to the website managers and have put my ticket on hold for now. See you when I get useful news.

I managed to get into my account using Tunnelbear as @overcharge suggested. It didn’t work when I tried before, but it occurred to me that the different reset links might expire after a while so I used Tunnelbear to gain access to the password reset page to get a fresh link and that did the trick.

So here’s what I did:

• I applied for a free Tunnelbear account
• I installed the appropriate browser extension for it (in my case for Chrome)
• I enabled Tunnelbear with its toggle to the right of Chrome’s address bar
• I opened the Duelyst launcher and used the ‘forgot password?’ button to get to the recovery page, which no longer redirected me because of Tunnelbear
• I entered a new password, pressed submit/enter/whatever
• I can access my account again
• I turned off Tunnelbear’s toggle, might as well save the data

Until BN gets their stuff in order this is the only method I could find works. I hope my frustration helps someone else out. Now I’ll try to get my account to link with BN-US instead of BN-EU, but at least I can play again. Thanks to @isbee and overcharge for their help, and the votes of support from everyone else.

So you used an account (Tunnelbear) to get into an account (Bandai US) to get into an account (play Duelyst).

I have three (minimum - don’t know exactly to be honest) BN-accounts now - not one using the email-adress I want (because… in the linking-process something happened… somehow) and because I’m not willing to create another account (for VPN) I’m not able to manage one of my BN-accounts. Not to speak how I should manage my old Duelyst accounts (that are already existing somehow, right?)…

I’m so angry I can’t tell. I really have to hold on saying what I’m thinking about this!

But it’s really good to hear, that you found a way and be able playing Duelyst again, @thematsjo!

It is a bit of a cumbersome workaround, to be sure.

But regardless, it helps to know there is a (sort of) solution to the problem and you have made it back.

Thanks for information, although I should note that you don’t really need to use a VPN, you can stop the redirect before it happens by pressing that [X] “stop loading this page.”
