Help! I want to make Vanar suffer!

In theory, Spellhai should be effective. Most of the Vanar deck is committed to answer the board. If you don’t have a board and run around dropping Pheonix fires it shouldn’t really matter. A more late game orientated Reva should do the trick.

How does Variax do versus Disruption Faie? I know the deck is a bit slow but do you guys think it’s slow enough to get Variax on the board and grind them out? I can see it being decent in Cassyva .

spellhai generally requires artifacts like spear or bloodrage mask tho and the faie BBS is death to all artifacts. Additionally, the board can get reaaaaaaaaally scary reaaaaallly quickly when they vomit 3/3 arcanysts across the board. I suppose if you repeatedly dump deathstrike battle panndos on the board you could fix that problem?

Oh, I’d like to try VarCass! Nice idea!

About spellhai. Everything is complicated. If u use minion based Hai - dispel and fox do the trick. If it’s spearhai - walls and corona make you immobile = dead.

TBH, spearhai is not that bad against faie, but still it’s the harder matchup.

I’ve been trying to build an anti-vanar deck for weeks. That’s how the original solar artillery idea came about. I suppose without straight up 3x decimate + 3x alcuin’s + crazy heals, there’s no stopping vanar.

The main problem is the huge spells they have that just completely disregard spell immunity -

eg. The chromatic cold means aegis doesn’t do jack and enfeeble just makes your entire board worthless. Perhaps if you attempted to steal spells via alcuin’s or mindbender?

Aggro Faie or Vaath is best rn, aggro Argeon is decent too. That’s pretty much it though, and you’ll lose some of your other matches

What I think, is that the biggest advantage Vanar has is the Mana Deathgrip ramping system into some bullshit like blue conjurer into lol fu u lose. Therefore, pack as much HP buffing as possible, and play units out of reach from her general, also don’t run any minion with less than 4 HP.

Ah, didn;t know that  Only recently been practicing Songhai so still don’t know the matchups well. I was actually thinking about a slower Reva using Geomancer and tracer to run around and burn down your opponent. I’ve done experimentation but I’m not sure how well it does versus Control Faie yet.

Actually this is the kind of deck I’m having most success with in current meta. Still, hard to outplay faie’s BBS. And meltdown. And corona. Etc.

If you want a general tip on decks with advantage, I’ve looked at it like this:

Control beats Board
Board beats Out of Hand
Out of Hand beats Control

Control can’t use their cards well if all you do is play things from hand. (People’s own suggestions promote this viewpoint).
Out of hand can’t keep up with a developing board.
A developing board is hard to produce against control.

Hope this helps.

there are really only 2 vanar decks on the ladder right now(not counting mech cause mech is a neutral deck), the arcanysts and the ramps.

the arcanysts require you keep their board in check to prevent them from being impossible to clear. this is the reason i run breath of the unborn in my abyss decks now, but you probably want more ping cause they WILL have awkward health totals

the ramp decks require you to either not rely on minions, or use minions that they cant clear easily (so no turn 1 crypto wraithlings). i know this is a lot to ask, but if you have a lot of minions that are just difficult to remove that will seriously hamper their playstyle. then you just have to beat them in the lategame. the only endgame they have is embla or meltdown so if you have plenty of minions nearby your odds are really good.

ive been having some success against ramp decks with a lurking fear deck (fight ramp with ramp) and ive had some success against the arcanyst decks with a control creep deck with lots of healing. its kinda hard to counter both those playstyles at the same time, but if you can force them to topdeck by baiting out all their removal you should be fine against both decks. just dont let them keep their draw engines i.e. circulus, conjurer, sojourner, spelljammer.

but if you want to go shudders songhai (puke) you might want to go for keshrai fanblades to screw up their spells since their minions are really lackluster without them

Spellhai and Rush Magmar should be incredibly strong against Vanar. Those decks don’t play many threats onto the board, and the threats that do get played get instant value (Rush minions, Minion+Inner Focus etc.) so they can’t respond before you get your damage. This is especially important given Vanar’s lack of healing and slow board development.

Remember, Vanar can’t answer your board if you don’t use the board.

I tend to have an easy (usually) time against vanar with tempo argeon, so you might want to try it out.

Structure Vet has had some success too, but I know vet inside out cuz I main them, so it might not be for you. I also didn’t play them that much this season

Go Facepalming.

Vanar can’t control face from hand.

For extra credit though - try to beat vanar without using vanar xD

Use vanar to beat vanar dude

1.Become a Vanar

2.Play like a skrub

3.Never win

4.Suffer

5.You just made Vanar Suffer

Creep Cass works well from my experience.

Your primary wincons, Rev and Obliterate, don’t give a fuck about Vanar removal. Rev is especially fun because he usually requires a 2 for 1 from the Vanar player to be removed and that after he already ate something + dealt damage to the general, it’s almost unfair really. If you really hate them you could add Ghost Azalea for some suprise lethals or just massive damage swings. Even if it lasts just one turn, the damage is done and your opponent has to use cards to answer it.

Meanwhile Kelaino and potential Healing Mystics keep you alive for quite a while and with Lure + Punish you have very efficient answers to their draw engine and wincons. Only thing left to do is flash out your midgame with some decent bodies (Dioltas for example is a pain for Vanar) and you should be fine against them.
