Where’s flash reincarnation for Magmar?? M8 Flash is probably the Magmar spell that has the most combo potential!!
Faction Staples for Newer Players (Updated 12/24/17)
Creep Cassyva will lose the Following cards with the rotation: Obliterate, Ghost Azelea, Klaxon, Sphere of Darkness and Ooz. Basically the only Creep generators left will be Shadow Nova, Abyssal Crawler and Cassyva’s BBS, and the only card who can abuse said creep is Abyssal Jugernaut. FeelsAbyssMan
Good point, but as a staple for what deck type? While it’s a great card, I don’t feel like it fits into every Magmar deck.
Ouch - hope they are better than Hearthstone at designing replacements…that and a wild format pls…
oddly not sure so good for newbies like me - as we all run empheral shroud and dispel the flashed colossus!!
It is pretty much a staple for every type of Magmar deck, It is Ramp,An Activator and Tempo tool. Staple doesn’t mean have to fit into every deck you have Earthsphere,Rebuke,Natural Selection and Ragebinder which don’t fit in every Magmar deck going on that definition.Flash reincarnation is common as all those cards Magmar decks.
If Mankantor and Lavaslasher are “the staples” those cards are rarely play without flash reincarnation in deck. Decimus and Drogon combos decks often use it increase the damage over the top. It is pretty much requirement to play the factions big minions Silthar Elder,Juggernaut or Kraigon. It causes damage procs for Twin Fangs,Amplification and Bloodrage. It is the reason Magmar Vaath Smash and Keeper builds work and why Magmar can skip playing 2 drops. It is the glue of Magmar decks.
Really?? Ok I feel it’s a staple in pretty much every deck. Here’s my reasoning:
Firstly, for the standard finality vaath deck. You flash out makantors, Lashers, funsteel defenders, armadas, Elucidators sometimes, gets your combos off real easy, overall amazing for tempo.
For Drogon decks, it’s the same as standard vaath, just you can flash out drogon as well, making for that wonderful turn 5 lethal
Eggmar… you flash EVERYTHING. Interceptors, makantors, lashers, sometimes even ragebinders and erratic raptyrs for shits and giggles. It’s AMAZING in eggmar.
Any starhorn deck. Flash Decimus spikes is the most lethal thing you can do on turn 3 as player 2. Cus you get that sick BBS and if the other guy is dumb enough to let you have that mana tile it’s just an extra 2 damage to face and another card to your hand.
Mech decks. This is tricky, cus there are only a few things you can flash out apart from the classic makantor lasher. Chassis is probably a candidate to get your mechaz0r out faster and that’s about it, unless you wanna play an extra wincon with decimus, Kujata and seismoid and throw out mechs left right centre for fun and laughter.
As a Magmar main that was probably really biased but that’s my views on the card. To me it’s a must have in any deck just cus of the Magmar playstyle.
I remember all grandmasters including Variax will be staying so you have one more thing to use creep for.
Holy fuck, R.I.P. Abyss. Damn.
When I build Magmar decks, I immediately add 3 Ragebinder, 3 Lavaslasher and 3 Makantor, so maybe I should cut the staples down to those. But for now, the people have spoken, so I’ll add it
Added a 4 mana neutral minion staple slot, debating whether or not to add ‘neutral removal’ with BTA/DBlades/Pushdog.
Like this comment if you’d like to see it added (or if your name is isbee)
do we know if spirit refunds are planned if there is no wild format?
Would REALLY love to craft some more for my creep deck but don’t want to totally burn my very finite collection of spirit
We don’t know if there will be a wild format or not yet since we have only been promised new game modes (which could be anything from the Rift to a Frostfire Styled mode) in which we can use rotated cards:
I am not 100% sure, but I think it is safe to assume there will be no full value spirit refund.
I want to say again how useful this guide is. It is really awesome!
Progenitor will be Magmar or Ragnora Staple… Mark my words!
I wouldn’t say Cryptographer is a Ragnora Staple. You don’t need the extra Ripper eggs as they are very vulnerable. Ragnora is better off using her eggs just from the BBS without having to spam it. Unlike in Vaath the weak Crypto body matters in Rag and drags the team down. (I play a Rag game with sticky minions that uses the combo to finish the opponent this may differ from the netdecked builds that center more around the Combo with Inceptor and Crypto but I think Morin Kuhr and Eggmorph is enough to pull it off.) In my opinion my way to build is more value oriented and therefore consistent. Watch your gameplay and look how often you actually need the Cryptographer Egg. If you actually use it for a turn 2-3 kill… fine. But what use of it do you have at the other times?
My midrange centric view on Rag might also explain why I’d consider Raptyr as a Ragnora staple.
I consider Raptyr to be more of a personal staple, but you could be right about Cryptographer.
- Cryptographer is a Ragnora staple.
- Cryptographer is NOT a Ragnora staple.

cryptographer isnt a ragnora staple, but it IS a lilithe, vaath, and faie (vanar?) staple
i added the vanar? for the sake of kara who can make use of it quite well
maehv is losing prophet on rotation
RIP
it’s not staple in illena as her bbs is not proactive enough for it.
And Crypto is a staple In Kara.
I have it for Lilithe and Faie under swarm and BBS respectively, although I would absolutely agree it’s staple for both generals I don’t have general staples for those two.
Yeah the loss of Prophet and Gnasher will really hurt, not sure what I’ll do with the staple list then.
Lol definitely not. Vanar’s lack of healing and draw combined with their plethora of good two drops means Crypto is only a staple in Faie, and only because it’s a spell proc, face damage and surprise AoE all at once, whereas in Kara it can be useless.
