Expansion Spoiler Day 1 - Cloudcaller

too bad frostburn is getting rotated out, so might wanna change ur point of view

I think the best part about this is how it refreshes the BBS. I would’ve loved it if it was deal 4 damage and stun the minion, but that’s wishful thinking, of course.

agreed

Nice nine-mana combo with cryptographer, but that’s not anything consistent enough to be important.

Unless Vanar gets more ramp.

Anyway, this is a good card, but that could mean anything from not quite competitive but close, to autoinclude. I can’t even really speculate.

Edit: Worth mentioning that this combos very hard with a bloodbound mentor you dropped the previous turn. Yeah, at five mana mentor, BBS, either use or cycle BBS copy. If mentor lives, at six mana cloudcaller, ā€œlesserā€ waterball (I’d hate to see greater), and you’ve got good dirt-cheap removal for later. Or you could do the whole thing all at once at nine mana, but that’s the same kind of thing as the cryptocombo.

It’s a waterbender! Awesome.

I don’t get this card. Compared to the other legendaries revealed today, the effect just seems too tame.

Maybe casting ā€œLesser Waterballā€ is the prerequisite to doing some crazy stuff as Vanar. Perhaps, each of the Vanar legendaries let you play a single token, and something good happens when you cast all three.

Of course, ā€œlesserā€ implies that there will be a ā€œgreaterā€ somewhere down the line…

i just realized this… but this can also act as a slower cryptographer
that just makes it even better for BBS faie. it can be removal for the desperate, but its an extra 3 cryptographers in your deck for the midgame

Fun synergy with Bloodbound Mentor, fun card in general. Might synergies with more BBS cards we haven’t seen yet

Looks like fun card, but non competitive. Too slow itself. Combo is inconsistent.

I’m thinking of running it in my Ramp Vanar deck instead of Blue Conjurer, as Cryptographer was never a valid pick in the deck. This card would be quite flexible when I can ramp it out T3 after using my BBS.

If you have a sanguinar on the board you can use your bbs and lesser waterball for free in one turn. I don’t know if it will be worth it though.

It’s a slightly better Lavaslasher for 6 mana, but the extra mana cost pushes it to the weak side, unless there is some synergy yet unrevealed. Also, the effect is not very interesting for a legendary minion

Lesser Waterball could’ve been a so much more interesting card. In my opinion, it should change to a different effect for each general.

Faie Bloodwing: Blizzard Waterball
Deal 1 damage to the enemy general and all enemies in the enemy General’s Row and Column.

Kara Winterblade: Torrential Waterball
Summon an ambush of Infiltrate minions on your opponent’s starting side of the battlefield and give them +1/+1.

Ilena Cryobyte: Fractalized Waterball
Destroy a nearby Stunned minion and Stun all other nearby enemy minions.

Other Generals: Lesser Waterball
Deal 4 damage to an enemy minion.

Seems so much weaker than the other 2

Her original is so much stronger that the other two. Besides, it’s more face.

But dont make it anti synergy. It’s like saying Cass og bbs is worse than the awesome one

That may be true, but it isnt justifiable or creative. Its just a half damage cryptographer.

Why not a 1 mana 1 damage to all enemies. Or all enemies in infiltrate. Thats more useful and less blatantly biased against faie

The way it is now would be like variax giving cass and maehv there awesome bbs but lilithes spawns 1 normal wraithling instead of 2. Its just a downgrade woops. Didnt see the row bit there

Well, Cloudcaller is very different from Variax in a number of ways. The most notable characteristic that sets Cloudcaller apart is that it refreshes the BBS. The Waterballs are designed to be used after the Original BBS; it was never meant to be an upgrade.

A Blizzard Waterball after a Warbird face would mean 3 damage to the enemy general and all enemies in the enemy General’s Column, as well as 1 damage to all enemies in the enemy general’s Row. That’s plenty of synergies.

Yes, I tried to make it a little more interesting than just a 0.5 Warbird. Your idea sounds really cool too; it’s like a mini Frostburn.

Alright, I just realized that Kara’s Waterball BBS was the true anti-synergy. I reworked it.

Ah yes, Just gonna not play the best card the faction has access to, it’s not like I want to win or anything. B-baka!

It’s really good, but it gets boring after some time. Besides, the original decklist I based the deck upon ran Capricious Marauder instead of Blue Conjourer, so I always considered the 5-drop slot to be quite versatile.
