Diamond Sale – Duelyst

Well…I prefer doubt, but it’s really hard at this point.

I know the feeling.

I think we all have lots of doubt they could “benefit” from…

Believe me I agree with ya, but in this specific incident this sale could’ve been planned weeks ago and the announcement of the sale really could’ve been shit timing

Edit: but that’s my opinion on this one situation

That’s the doubt I’m talking of. Big companies do usually have lots of things scheduled.

I hope ya get your account back, ain’t right to restrict access to a game with a global audience because of region

I will celebrate when this debacle with account suspension / banning and furtive region-locking is resolved.

Just in case it itsn’t clear - that’s NOT how families work.
(At least, not healthy ones).

I’m pretty sure the timing is irrelevant to them.

It is to us, however, just another shovel full of dirt out of the grave we are metaphorically digging… for our respect of this partnership.

Yeah! Let’s make both of these guys lose their jobs! That sounds great. /s

In reality, CPG now gets to talk when BN wants them to talk. The situation is ridiculous, yes, but (1) it’s highly unreasonable to expect people to literally lay down their livelihood for it and (2) this discussion is really off-topic for this thread anyways.

On the timing of this, it kinda sucks since I already bought my orbs, but eh. The deals themselves are pretty okay and they did follow up on their promises for sales. I doubt the surrounding controversy with the whole region-locks would have much to do with them changing the time of their marketing endeavors, and if you think about it the two issues are really not related at all.

tl;dr: Put down your pitchforks and head to another thread to burn down houses.

edit: Well would you look at that, seems our community managers are better than even I thought

Hi Folks,

I know this can be difficult to hear right now, and I know I’ve lost more ground than gained as far as trust lately. However, the fact is that this sale has been planned for months now, long before BNEA even officially took over publishing responsibilities.

I am sorry that the timing has caused some doubt as to our intentions with this sale.

Thanks,

Stormshade

@kingw

I kinda agree and disagree with you. With all due respect (and I mean it) the discussion of “why is this sale not interesting for some people” is not really off-topic. However, I do understand that it is rather uncomfortable when people with “pitchforks” are going here and there.

I apologize if my behaviour in this thread was annoying.

And I do also want to ask any person supporting my case to not become too annoying for the community. It is not what we want, right?

Are you out of touch? Or don’t you care about the small percentage of players who frequent the forums, watch streamers or read reddit?

This right now when the whole Alplod matter is unresolved leaves a very bad taste.

Moreover, it would be terribly ill-advised for people to spend money on the game, seeing as how there are:
A) regions where the game is getting pulled from, is becoming inaccessible without warning
and
B) there is no list anywhere which regions those are

Even worse, it can be seen (not by me, I see this as an out of touch and probably pre-arranged sale that CPG cannot pull out from or so) as a deliberate attempt to get more money from regions before cracking down fully and shutting those people out of the game.

AND just AFTER the expansion launch and introduction (you know, times when discounts are usually given)? This would be really hard to swallow IF I had bought orbs. Craziness!!!

EDIT: ok I see a reply to this, from Stormshade… that means they are here, they just really chose to leave Alplod and our questions hanging.

With this whole mess surrounding region blocks, I find it pretty risky to make any purchases right now. While I understand that the whole account locking after purchases thing is probably an unintended side effect, it could have been communicated better. Still, at least we are getting a bit of information right now and it’s better late than never.

For now, I guess the only thing we can do is wait and see how this whole matter resolves.

  1. All regions where the game is being pulled from it has already been pulled from. We do not intend to restrict access to any region that we can legally operate our business in. The only ways this changes is if the law in the United States or another country changes and we become unable to legally operate our business in that area.

  2. We cannot legally provide that list of regions. Further, doing so would actually raise more questions,
that our team can’t really answer.
    Q. "Why is Duelyst not available in Russia?"
    A. “Legal Reasons. Community Managers and Customer Support Representatives are not lawyers, and thus cannot comment on legal issues.”

  3. Players who tried to register a BNEA account in a region that was not allowed would have received a message stating that we could not offer them service. This message has been in place long before July 11th, when we merged Duelyst into the BNEA family.

Thanks,

Stormshade

Been in many situations like this with games/publishers.

It’s highly likely that thís is ít. There’s nothing else. This is the resolution from their side.

This is everything, this is all. Sure, some more posts being friendly but no action (legal, so yeah, they can’t do much anymore now, if that’s true, right? (well, apart from refunding)).

They will wait, and people will play. It will be forgotten.

Well, not by me.

Are you 100% sure though? Because I really think it’s way more likely that that message failed in some cases.

Also, not being able to list the regions sounds really weird!

There are many many games that are region-restricted and I have seen in many online places nice warnings “This game is not available in: [list with countries]”.

So that being legally impossible to provide sounds extremely odd.

Just for all of the “Boycott” spam I’m going to buy an even larger diamond pack.

You can spend your money however you like (and I hope you don’t get burned for it), but why do it to spite people angry over getting lied to by a company they trusted?

Since a) I’m not located in the US and b) did spend real money on the game, the possibility of making a purchase only to suddenly find my account being suspended is certainly on topic in a thread announcing a discount. Other non-US resident might actually feel the same way.

(Replies / thread having been made since my reply indicate that since I can still access the steam store, the game should remain legally available in my country.)

Burning down ? No.
Rattling the doors and windows to elicit a response, though…

Be my guest.
