No, the first time I fought him I got surrounded and lost. Then I beat him the regular way, after which I decided to goof around and see what would happen if you kill him when he is surrounded.
D3c Boss Battle feedback thread
I was like: OK, i will play an agro lyonar using tempest and martyrdoom only and GGEZ.
Then i see the real boss.
It was like “Welp, didnt see that comming”.
Also you cant dispell the enemy minions, so i sudenly get facing a 9/6 whit forcefield on the first try :⁾)
I finally defeat him whit Master zir + divine bond combo :3.
Tried twice, lost twice, renounced to try again. This just takes too much time for such a small reward like an orb, I’d better do quests on the ladder. However, since I didn’t enjoy the bosses so far and it seems other players did enjoy this one a lot, I guess it’s just not my cup of tea. I think I will just skip the bosses from now on.
I can’t say I’m love with the feeling of someone pulling a super-powerful and hitherto unknown power out of nowhere.
Boss’s first form died to Creep and on his turn he immediately flew behind me and sat there for the rest of the match. Provoke, Flying, Backstab, GG.
I still won, but I was not thrilled/amused.
More importantly (and I believe what he meant) is that the effect on the parts (flying, forcefield, etc) isn’t removed by dispel either, which is strange.
I suppose in the code the minions are completely immune to dispel, but it caused me to waste a dispel on that scary core.
try this deck:
basically, the strat’s just to play value as much as you can. cover ranged units with provokes and kill off the big minions with martyrdom. once you’ve built up a small army, and have a divine bond in hand, just get into a corner and surround yourself before taking out the little fry. Or, you can also just completely surround the boss before killing it and you’ll win without the upgrade proc’ing. (as pointed out by phoinexflame)
also, everything’s super basic so upgrade with other stuff if you have betters eg. sojourners for tri oath/sundrops for scintillas/martyrdom for decimate.
Bracers are useful for killing the early 3hp drops like the crappy kataras
divine bonded an ironcliffe while phase 2 boss had 13 health.
even though he had his forcefield and the ironcliffe was at like 3 health. didnt attack. next turn i got lethal.
Yeah I really liked this boss as well, cool mechanic, cool synergy between backstab and syvrael, quite surprise of his transform.
Just really liked you having to kill his ‘adds’ first
I’d say, him transforming looked a usual thing because a general with 1hp is already questionable, with ability close to Shinkage Zendo. Monolith Guardian on the other hand has moderate stat and the first one to ‘transform’
Thanks, man, but I don’t find it particularly entertaining to build a deck just to defeat a boss. I guess this is my problem, but I think bosses could be significantly improved as follows:
-
Less power, better AI: most of the bosses boil down to using a cheesy strategy to win, because they are horribly strong, but dumb. The fight would be more entertaining and rewarding if the bosses were a bit weaker but smarter.
-
Two difficulty levels: an easy one to get the orb and a hard one to get cosmetics. Ideally, the easy one should be doable with standard decks, while the hard one should require specific deck building.
Skynet?
…
I do suprised on his second form.
But they are no match for the might of Marmar!
(I thought the forcefield chassis are magic imune like mechazor Chasis, why I didn’t use my remove spell on him… lol)
anyway, Shimzar orb was still way to stingy on legend and epic. I haven’t pull any legend from free boss orb. >.<
Hmmm, you should theoretically expect a legendary every 4 orbs. But then, that’s the stats from quite some time ago. I haven’t opened large numbers of normal/shimzar orbs in awhile.
Guys… I found a loophole
Kill him and see what happens
Thanks, man, but I don’t find it particularly entertaining to build a deck just to defeat a boss.
Then IMO boss fights aren’t for you… I think that Boss Battles should be viewed primarily as deckbuilding challenges. A Boss AI is never* going to be as good as a human, and treating it as a normal fight that you beat with a normal deck but making up for the AI weakness by giving the Boss OP abilities doesn’t increase the fun either…
_* Well, not never. Obviously if Google wanted to throw DeepMind at it I’m sure they could. But then, what would be the point?
lul echoing shriek?
Well, I only get battle pets after battle pets. Lol.
With normal Orbs, I get a few legendary and epic now and then. Now that I have finished my Ancient Bonds Collection (I prefer this methods of collecting things.) I can try to complete my core set and shimzar (until next expansion at least)
