Azure Summoning: how is it now that it's nefed?

title says it all. It’s been a week or so since the nerf. I kind of dusted mine immediately when i saw the 1:1 dust value for a limited time thing, so i don’t really know how it feels now. I’d like to hear from you guys.

Haven’t seen the deck at all since the nerf, and i’ve played like 50 games in S-rank this weekend. I think the Archetype is dead. Might be an overreaction but i can’t really judge. Never found the deck all that good in the first place.

I read somewhere that the problem wasn’t that it was very strong, it was because it was so consistent. I think it was grincher. I wonder if it’s still consistent and if it is, if it’s weakened enough to justify the consistency.

Given the nature of the nerf i think it was mostly to prevent the high rolls this deck could have, i.e combo of turn 1 as player 2 or turn 2 as player one. With 1 extra mana required this is no longer possible even with all the manatiles.

So the consistency didn’t really change. You will still be able to play the combo reliably at 7 mana. But as far as i am concerned, the combo was already kinda mediocre at 6 mana, it’s even worse at 7. However, that’s just my opinion, i know that some top players have a different opinion on this matter.

Would be interesting to know what @improbableblob, @deathsadvocate and @eurasianjay think about it.

Something needed to be done, and this does the trick. Now the deck wants to run between seven and nine flying units, rather then six or seven. Just have to plan for it being stronger later or just a small pull ahead in the mid game. Still strong just different. The fad has passed and everyone is playing with the new generals, but the deck is still certainly there and meta relevant.

I’d have certainly preferred a different approach though:

The deck is the same, they just can’t pull off the combo until a turn later, so sometimes it isn’t fast enough.

I think the deck is still very strong. It was my laddering deck of choice to S last season even after the nerf.

A Skywing nerf would have probably killed this archetype. But as it is now, I can still get consistency from the deck.
