Deepfire Devourer is a lot more difficult to use than I originally thought. You have to consider how many minions you want to feed to this thing. You have to consider what removal will be most appropriate for it based on how buff it is, and if you’re ok with that removal being used on it (e.x., sparing a Wraithling to play around Natural Selection). In a sense, you get to choose how your opponent responds to this card.
Positioning can be tricky because you can only use adjacent minions for buffs, your BBS spawns randomly, and you still want to respect everything from Warbird to Makantor (though sometimes it’s big enough that you can play into those things if it’s worth making your opponent’s play more awkward).
I understand that you don’t want to invest too much into one unit and get punished (Sojourner is in the deck to help me in case this happens. I used to have Horror Burster instead for even more shenanigans). But removal is only as punishing as the investment you put into it. That’s what I love about Deepfire Devourer. YOU decide how threatening it is, and how much you want to invest into it.

It’s a shame that there aren’t too many Dying Wish minions for Mindlathe to snatch (curse you Desolator and your 1 health). But it seemed like a cute combo card for things like Deepfire Devourer, Ritual Banishing, and Darkfire Sacrifice.
I didn’t know you ran a similar deck. I think it’d be cool to see!
